Coombe Yarra Valley

Came with my family on a very busy Saturday at 12:45, was almost full but we were seated very quickly and chose the three course option, which was a bargain for $80.

Amazing service from our waitress and the atmosphere was pleasant and lovely. Only real complaints were that the mains took 35 minutes to arrive after the entrees and the pork belly portion seemed significantly smaller in comparison to other mains. Food overall was noticeably high quality and incredibly well cooked.

Stand out dish for me was the beef ribs which were absolutely divine, every part of the dish was incredible.

Another World class restaurant and wedding venue only 15min from BADGER HOUSE. Stunning spaces, garden and a Dame Nellie Melba gallery. The staff are all very highly trained, friendly and attentive. The meals were superb with the Peach Melba Tart a showstopper topped with gold leaf and raspberries, and so much more sophisticated than what we serve in Robs Restaurant in the 70s! The bread and salted butter were really impressive - actually perfect. The wavy, panelled timber roof looks amazing and dulls any clatter so the acoustics make it easy to chat. I can’t believe I haven’t been here after such a long association with the Yarra Valley. It would make a wonderful choice for a wedding too. We can’t wait to share this place with family and friends. With 2 courses @$75pp it is more than reasonable.

What a beautiful place for lunch in the Yarra valley. Food was all outstanding, and the wines and cocktails we tried were delicious. The French manager was very professional, lovely and helpful, and all the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. We’ll definitely be back, and recommend anyone to try Coombe if they haven’t been before.. you won’t be disappointed.

Amazing History of Dame Nelly Melba, Her Cottage here on the grounds of her estate is quite amazing and simply beautiful. It really does help you look back in time to a period that once was a different time. And how she lived a lavish life in the early 1900s.

Had a great day... took my best friend for her birthday. Had booked the garden tour, but the weather wasn't brilliant, so they changed it up a bit to a garden and house tour, which was brilliant! This was followed by a three course lunch, and everything was delicious! Highly recommend the beef rib which literally melted in the mouth, and the asparagus entree was so tasty!
The peach melba dessert is also highly recommended.
Coming in second place (as we shared) was the potato, pork belly and brownie... but none of them were bad meals! It was just a case of which course won the round!
Highly recommend for a special occasion!

Spent the loveliest afternoon here for the last day of a 4 night stay at Yarra Valley. Coombes is a Yarra Valley institute that definitely needs to be visited.

Started with a tasting in the Cellar Door with a sommelier that was incredibly knowledgeable and attentive despite the influx of patrons (There were only 2 staff).

Progressed to coursed lunch in the restaurant. Started with the braesola and capocolla from the Salumi list - both came with bread so in hindsight should’ve ordered the charcuterie board. Despite this was absolutely delicious.

We had the Smoked Duck Breast which was delicate in flavour, beautiful and delicious. Followed by the Barramundi and Pork Scotch Fillet and Belly four mains. The Barramundi was perfectly cooked with a flavoursome crayfish bisque and the pork was divine.

We paired our meal with the 2022 Tribute ‘Lady Pamela’ Chardonnay which only enhanced our meal and the experience further. So much so that we bought a bottle to take home.

Finished off with scones and tea which was as scones and tea should be then strolled around the gardens.

Frederic provide the most attentive, intuitive service. He was so polite, knew the menu and had great recommendations. It was like he could read our minds and knew when we needed a wine top up and were ready for the next course.

Literally a perfect afternoon

Sensational meal today. Ambience, service, cleanliness and attention to detail faultless. Food just magnificent from start to finish. Perfect plates, chilled when needed, warm when needed, well balanced flavours. Honestly, just 10/10.

Again today 12 months later, exceptional. Frederick is an awesome waiter. Love this place.

Good spot for a long relaxed lunch. We had a 3 course meal over 2 hours. The dining room is an open plan setup overlooking the pine trees. The food is good and service is friendly.

Outstanding....wonderrful service and food was excellent. Best in the area. Unfortunately they could not fit us in for lunch due to a wedding. Definitely will be going back for lunch very soon

Coombe Yarra Valley surpassed all my expectations as a wedding photographer for my business Carry Your Heart Photography. The venue's breathtaking beauty left me in awe. The picturesque landscapes, architectural marvels, and meticulous attention to detail made every frame a work of art.

The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every moment of the wedding day was flawless. The couple was able to relax and fully immerse themselves in the celebration, thanks to the venue's well-planned layout and the staff's attentive care.

Amazing restaurant. Very relaxed atmosphere. Big place, attention to small details is there. It was fully booked however acoustic system works amazing and you can hardly hear other tables. We will be back thank you guys for the amazing service

Had a fantastic lunch here over the weekend. Food, service, wines all exceptional. One thing I will say though is when I went to pay the credit card machine first up gives you the option to tip.
I couldn’t work out how to skip this function which made it super awkward because I don’t leave tips anywhere I eat. Waitress and chief’s are paid well in Australia especially on weekends and who’s to say that money goes to the right people not into the business owners bank account? Drop the function it’s tacky and if people want to leave a tip they will it shouldn’t be rammed in their face on leaving.

Quite the nice venue and the course menu is relatively affordable for a fancy meal in the Yarra Valley. Food tasted great for the most part, wasn't all that impressed by their desserts though. It took a while for the food to come out, but they were generous with seating time despite saying it was limited.

Exceptional food and service. I had the beef rib, fall off the bone , port was excellent , deserts were first class and the local wines are very worthy .

I celebrated my engagement at Coombe and it was the best day ever. Dylan was so supportive since I contacted him regarding the event and facilitated all of my requests. Amanda ensured the day went by with no flaws and made sure that everyone had the best experience ever. It was perfect. Excellent staff. Excellent food. Excellent atmosphere. I highly recommend this venue.

I recently hosted a private event at Coombe in their Gallery space. Every aspect was exceptional. We had a perfect afternoon, the food was delicious and the quality of service was second to none, I can’t recommend Coombe highly enough. Thank you so much for making my daughters Bridal shower the perfect start to her wedding countdown.

Enjoyed the "devonshire tea" set with my wife and parents. Amazing venue/setting with friendly service. Best scones i've ever had.

Really love the spacious dining area and the service there. Went there in Feb and also in April, the menu seemed the same, and the quality are amazing both times.

I tried the kingfish for entree- fresh and light, perfectly paired with the Reisling!
For mains: first time I had the fish which was beautifully cooked, second time I had the beef ribs which is even more amazing, great with their shiraz
For dessert: I love scones, so both times I ordered the fluffy scones 😋😋😋

The second time I bought my kids there and they realllllyyy enjoyed the kids menu (both the beef bolognaise and beef pie) and the bread that comes with it. The kids were too full to eat the icecream, but it was made of real vanilla bean! 😮

I visited Coombe Yarra Valley for a friend’s wedding and was really impressed with the venue and estate!

The estate was the former home of Dame Nellie Melba - a famous soprano opera singer who is featured on the Australian $100 note. There is a statue of her outside the main building, and photos of her inside.

The gardens are well maintained, and the tall hedges make for a beautiful backdrop. The restaurant area is also really nice, with large windows allowing you to view the gardens.

House tour and high tea is highly recommended. Dame Nellie Melba’s home (which has remained largely original) is a must see of Australian history. The guide was very good. High tea was delicious and service was excellent.
Bookings for house tour are essential and only occurs during the winter months. Garden tours start in Spring. I’m sure that would be beautiful too as the estate is rich with history.

Update: Went back again! Had lunch. Lamb (for two) was absolutely divine! Wine was amazing …and once again, would highly recommend!
