Nice drive up the mountain for an awesome breath taking view. The track up the mountain is good condition dirt but pretty steep, 4WD recommended.

Easy drive up dirt road, any car can do it. Scenic drive through the forest.
Great spot for a picnic.

Was a surprisingly steep climb up to the trail to the carpark, which I was surprised to see an Alfa Romeo road car amongst all the 4x4's.
I'd suggest a 4x4 for the trip up to the lookout.
Has an interesting history, and an amazing view out over Moogerah Dam and the Scenic Rim valley.

Unsealed road is not suitable for lowered cars and is quite rough on the suspension of little hatches, but wow well worth the trek!

One of the most spectacular views in the region surrounded by beautiful bushland. Brisbane city is just visible in the far background.

Governors Chair Lookout is one of the best amateur off-road spots for a half-day trip. It is located 90 minutes from Brisbane. The lookout has clear and beautiful views in sunny days, while it becomes very dangerous during storms with severe lightnings (attached photos). You can drive with a sedan and pass the last part of the road towards the lookout, which is a gravel road (takes 10 to 15 minutes), but an SUV is recommended. The lookout has enough space to park 10 to 20 cars.

Excellent views. It is most definitely worth going. It is only a 150 metre walk from the car park. The road is a bit rough. I managed to do it in a rear-wheel-drive sedan, but an off-road vehicle would be much better. It there has been a lot of rain don’t even try visiting unless you have a four-wheel drive vehicle.

Awesome and very easily accessible lookout. Just a couple minutes walk from the carpark which itself is a couple minutes drive from Spicer's Gap Campgrounds.

TLDR great view easily accessable if you have 4x4 or a dirt bike. (Long version) This place is easily accessible via 4x4, but if you have a 2wd car you could definitely make it just take is slow over the bumps. To get there you have to go up a dirt track that is is sealed at the steepest part. 2km from the look out is a camp site and drop toilet. If you are supper worried about going to 2wd just walk from here. Once you get there it's a nice flat car park with picnic table. Then 150 walk up a small dirt track and you are there. The very is great... about 170deg wide... be careful of cliff face if you have kids. I was really surprised that the kids love this lookout... nice spot for photos... definitely recommend if you have 2 hours or so...

Beautiful views. Bit hard to get to. Definitely not for road bikes or sports cars with the gravel roads.
