The ancient pines of Tasmania. A wonderland, the well made boarded path winding through beautiful pines that lead to Pine Lake, a stunning blue lake with the rocky landscape as a backdrop. My place of quiet enjoyment where I love to sketch and be a part of this amazing place.

Pine Lake Track in Tasmania is a delightful trail that offers a straightforward and enjoyable hike to the lake. The path is well-marked and easy to navigate, making it accessible for all skill levels. Along the way, you'll find ample information about the surrounding flora, fauna, and geological features, enriching your hiking experience.

I highly recommend this track as a perfect spot to take a break and stretch your legs, especially if you've been on a long drive. It offers a serene and peaceful atmosphere, allowing you to unwind amidst nature's beauty. The tranquility of the surroundings makes it an ideal place to relax and recharge before continuing your journey.

During my visit, the weather was chilly, with a noticeable wind chill factor. While this added a touch of briskness to the air, it also added a sense of adventure and a refreshing change of scenery. However, it's advisable to come prepared with suitable clothing to ensure your comfort.

A very easy, accessible walk along a board walk out to Pine Lake. The lake happened to be frozen when we were there, which was a real treat for us QLDers. The 360° views are awe-inspiring. It's worth the short stop to stretch the legs.

Accessed by a relatively new accessible boardwalk. The short walk allows visitors access to Tasmanian alpine plants like scopiria, cushion plant, pencil pines and Tasmanian Waratah. Visit in summer to see the scopiria and Waratah flower. Make sure you stay on the boardwalk because the plants are fragile and take a long time to recover (if at all) if stepped on.

Lovely place, always windy and cold somehow. Short walk over scrub and Pines, good place to stretch the legs on a driving trip.

A frost bitten, but gorgeous plain and lake on top of the mountain. We saw the native wooly brown kangaroo here up close. A great walk!

So pretty! We found this by accident on a drive to Launceston and we are so glad we stopped!

One of the best ways in central Northern Tasmania to quickly get to the snow while staying on a good quality road without needing chains and/or a 4WD vehicle. The duck board walk to the lake is enchanting with the pine tree branches laden with snow and icicles and the lake itself freezes over (although not enough for ice skating unfortunately).
It's also a great little walk during other seasons, but far more evocative under a layer of snow.

A lovely short track in the highlands, not very far from the famous Liffey Falls. The ancient pencil pines are amazing and the lake itself is very tranquil.
