All was wonderful at this lodge: comfy rooms, pleasant lounge to read and talk with fellow travelers, garden to sit outside, listening to the birds, outstanding meals (the best in Tasmania as far as I'm concerned). And the walks in the forest were super interesting with excellent knowledgeable specialist in all things trees, geology, topography, biology, sustainability, you name it ...

We recently stayed at the Forest Walks Lodge for a week and it is a great location for a number of reasons. Its rural location is perfect for detoxing from digital life. Rosemary and Sean are great hosts. The meals are excellent especially dinners with all locally sourced ingredients. They have created one of the first ecologically / sustainable lodges before that was even a consideration, with passive heating and cooling, sustainable energy sources and local food. It is also a great central location to connect to the Tasting Trails of Tasmania. Wallabies, superb fairy wrens, sheep and other wildlife will be right outside your bedroom door.

We found Forest Walks Lodge because it was dog friendly. Not having stayed there before we were unsure what to expect. We were made very welcome, as was our dog Nelly. This beautiful valley is so picturesque with its vivid green pastures and the stunning mountains as a back drop. We wanted for nothing whilst there, our room was perfect and very comfortable and Sean and Rosemary were the best hosts. As for our meals, well all I can say is that they were amazing, restaurant quality and so very delicious. Thank you again - we will most definitely be back.

What an amazing experience at Forest Walks Lodge!!
Sean and Rosemary are fabulous hosts with a world of knowledge and experience living in harmony with nature and a real care for the earth.
The accommodation is comfortable and peaceful, I could have stayed a week!
Sean’s cooking was 5 stars using local, top quality produce!!
Then there was the Forest walk, another special experience into World Heritage Forest. Sean captivated us with his knowledge of this area and the forest.

I stayed at Forest Lodge Walks in winter 2022 with my family and my parents. We only had one night but as soon as I got there I wished we had more. I felt so at home by the fire with a delicious bottle of red wine that was available there to buy and my favourite book. The dinner prepared by Sean and Rosemary was incredible. We were so full! Then we woke up in the morning to a frost covered winter land. Just beautiful. Not to mention all the Pademelons and Possums! My 8 year old daughter was in heaven. I cannot recommend this place enough. It really was quite magical and I was very close to moving in permanently.

Stayed for 2 nights with another couple/friends - fantastic stay in lovely accommodation. The forest tour we went on with Sean was a wonderful experience. As an ecologist, he is very knowledgeable about the environment he lives in, and obviously loves. Dinners were delicious - as a chef Sean served us outstanding dinners. Both Sean and Rosemary were very welcoming and friendly, and happy to make you feel part of their environment. Hope to come back and stay again one day.

The setting is so tranquil at Forest Walks Lodge, the beautiful valley surrounded by all the mountains. Rosemary and Sean were wonderful hosts. Our meals were amazing. We gave up on going out for dinner after savouring Sean and Rosemary’s restaurant quality cuisine. Lovely fresh bread, duck eggs and jams in the morning. We stayed in the end room and found it quite large and quiet. Sean and Rosemary were gracious to let us bring our little Romey. He was in heaven smelling all the wildlife that game out in the evenings. I highly recommend Forest Walks Lodge as a tranquil place to stay - located in Jackeys Marsh outside of Deloraine, Tasmania.

Beautiful couple with a very comfortable lodge in a glorious location.
The meals are as good as, often better than most restaurants, and Sean's knowledge of the forest is from a life of love for the environment and his considerable conservation efforts.
Tip: ask about his guided walking tour through the World Heritage listed rainforests. Amazing.

It is such a pleasure to recall staying at the Eco Lodge cabin for two nights in January.

What a joy it was staying in the well-appointed, clean and tidy cabin.

With the gas cooking, heating, hotwater and Wi-Fi it was very comfortable.

It was all wonderfull. The mountain views, stream, clear cool air, birds and wildlife all around.

Unfortunately, we've had to return to the rat race, but with the memory of a lovely stay.

It is good to know, now more than ever, that there are World Conservation areas and places from which to experience it.

Thank you very much Sean and Rosemary for an extremely memorable stay in a very special part of the world.

Time stands still at the forest walks lodge. The 360 views of the lush green valley flats of Jackeys Marsh and the Great Western Tiers are epic. Rosemary and Sean are lovely hosts and cook up a storm to enjoy by the fire accompanied with Tassie wines. Well worth the visit for a couple of nights and booking a forest walk to learn about the diversity of vegetation and wildlife that also call the valley home.

Arriving into this remote valley surrounded by stunning mountains, my expectations were high. I had heard about the Forest Walks Lodge from friends - a high-end off the grid retreat with fabulous scenery. My expectations were met! A warm and inviting lodge with delicious food, friendly and informative hosts, comfy beds and scenery galore. Yes, I’ll be back.

I stayed there last week after finding the place through Tasmania travel coupons as I was looking for a place fairly close to the Cradle Mountain. I have to say that I really liked the location and the lodge itself. The dinner and breakfast provided by Sean and Rosemarie was some of the best food I had in Tasmania and would definitely recommend it to anyone staying there. Overall 10/10 experience for me.

One of the most informative and connecting botanical tours I’ve experienced. A very special place discovering the rainforest and landscape at the heart of Tasmania’s World Heritage listing. Not to mention the beautiful lodge and dining experience. Feel so privileged to have this experience. Make sure you include the Forest Walks Lodge on you travels. Thank you Sean and Rosemary.

Most beautiful valley and stunning view of mountains from our
window. Comfortable and cosy. Great sleeping in the dark and quiet, and a good place to admire the stars at night. Lovely hosts made us welcome and cooked a delicious breakfast and dinner. We wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy more walking in this special area.

It's been over a year since my girlfriend and I visited Forest Walks Lodge, but the wonderful time we had has us looking forward to the next time we're back. The Lodge is a comfortable, tranquil place with lovely hosts, and the walk that we took through the nearby forest was simply spectacular. It was just the escape that we needed, and it was great to know that it was not only eco-friendly but LGBT inclusive. Looking forward to returning one day.

Great hospitality from Sean and Rosemary. Several echidnas, pademelons and ducks roam the grounds around the lodge. Sean is a great chef and creates delicious meals made from local produce for all dietary requirements. You're missing out if you stay at the lodge and don't pay for Sean to make dinner for you
