Great place to stop for a rest with a great view and a history lesson of good old Aussie hard work to achieve the snowy hydro.

Great views of the Murray 1 Hydro Power plant on the way from Khancoban. Clear view when it is sunny, or else gets foggy early in the morning and could not see much.

Wonderful to see firsthand one of the key items of the Smowy Mountain Hydroelectric Power Scheme that I first learned about at their Discovery Center in Cooma, NSW, Australia.

It's such a surreal piece of engineering, the bright water pipes illuminates in the night and the view is as good during the day. Crazy to think how they must've laid the giant pipes through such a difficult terrain more than half a century ago.

Awesome spot to get a great look at one of the Hydro power plants. Great info as well. We stopped here as the visitor centre was closed at the time, but got an amazing run through of the Hydro Scheme by the Khancoban visitor centre, recommend stopping in to learn more.

Easy access to the carpark coming from Corryong. A good view of the power station and the pipes bringing water from Geehi Reservoir. Several information boards too.

Spectacular views of the first of the Murray River hydro power generating sites. The penstocks (pipes) make for an awesome sight as they rise majestically from the river up over the mountain be. The sound of running water and a loud whir indicates the station is generating. At the rear of the station is the switch yard and transformer yard transporting the electricity to the power grid.

I want to remind us all of the importance of continuing to innovate and grow within the world of civil engineering. Remember when our project was considered one of the seven wonders of civil engineering? We should ask ourselves, what are we doing right now to keep that title alive?
Just think back to the Sydney Harbour Bridge. At the time, it was a massive engineering challenge, and it stood as the largest bridge of its kind. The people who built it pushed the boundaries and set new standards for what could be achieved.
We owe it to ourselves and our legacy to keep pushing those limits, just like they did. So, let's make sure we continue striving for excellence, breaking new ground, and setting the stage for the next wonders of civil engineering.

Amazing, one of the technical wonders of the world. Especially the time of its construction and continuing to be developed for requirements into the future. Recommend all who have a chance to visit do so.
