Absolutely fantastic place. It's like a caravan park but much, much better. You're not crammed in & it's laid out fantastically. There's also a bar with an unbelievable range of spirits & beers.
The hosts are super friendly & everyone is made to feel very welcome.
I highly recommend it to you all.

If I could give 6 stars I would! Loved this camp spot. Adrian and Mel are so friendly, helpful and they have put their quirky stamp on it (with a lot of work and love!). Enjoyed drinks with them and our fellow campers by the campfire 🥰

Did we like it? We booked for 2 nights, stayed for 4 then rearranged our trip so we could spend our last 5 days here. I've started writing this review several times but keep getting distracted trying to figure out when we can go back. So yeah, you could say I'd recommend Left of Field.

The grounds are set up in a beautiful garden setting, they are very happy for you to take a tour of the garden space. The sites are spacious and laid out to provide privacy. There is an outdoor kitchen area with sink, BBQ, fridge, kettle, table and sitting area. Two porta showers with good water pressure that are hot on demand, plus you get a large area for privacy. Two toilets cubicles which are very clean. There is also a washer and laundry lines.

There is a communal firepit where you can have great conversation with the awesome owners Adrien and Mel, their friends and family along with the other guests. There is a great bar with the regular options but also very unique and varied choices. Adrien and Mel are very knowledgeable about the stock and will help you choose something you'll enjoy. On certain evenings they have live music and fire up the BBQ with sausages or chops... one of the best lamb chops I've had.

On top of all this, they are very knowledgeable about the area and can advise you on all sorts to do... from hikes like the Needles or Growling Swallet to easier options or the dam walk. Adrien even rearranged his day to take a group of us hiking. You can also walk over to Mt Field National Park easily. There is a lot to do in the area so suggest you plan at least 4 full days.

Now this place is SOMETHING ELSE ! We were so happy to find it out of pure luck! The owner Mel and Adrian are the sweetest humans you could ever meet, and you can tell they put their heart into this place, they were so welcoming and friendly, it felt like home. Will definitely be back!

The official national park campground was closed so we stayed at Left of Field, and we were so lucky for it! This campground is absolutely one of a kind. I’ve never been to a campsite with so many fun and quirky activities and amenities. The vibes and energy of the place were just fabulous. Everyone we chatted with was so lovely, including owners Adrian and Mel! It is clear they put their heart into the place and cultivating a fun, energetic, and community feel. Much more than just a place to pass through! At the end of our trip it was a joy to have power, water, a warm shower, and a great kitchen. Bathroom facilities were great and constant tunes were a plus. Couldn’t recommend more if you’re in the area!

Take the platypus tour! We didn’t get to see any (tricky platypus!!) but Adrian was funny and pointed out a lot of animals!

The camp was beautiful. A lot of love has been poured into this place, they’ve done a great job cultivating a nice campsite.

They had live music, warm fire, and a bar.

Our family had such a wonderful time here. Incredible hosts, quirkily curated grounds, great live music, close to Mt Field NP and other attractions. A family bath in the outdoor heated bath was a highlight. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.

Awesome spot run by a great couple. Super friendly and helpful. Unreal bar, outdoor fire pit, live music and BBQ or Pizza dinners. Not crowded at all as their policy us to spread people out. Would go again ❤

Unreal experience! We were in a campervan. This place is so damn functional with the hugest flares of creativity. (everything you need: hot shower, drinking water, clean/outstanding toilets, fire pits, kitchen, bbq, washing machine and dryer, wildlife, activities for outdoors and more)
They should charge more, it is unreal value for what's going on there - $20 per person per night (powered)!

Superb. Left of Field is absolutely fabulous, and Adrian and Mel are the loveliest people you will ever meet. Have a drink, listen to music and talk to fellow travelers in one of Tasmania's most beautiful national parks.

Wonderful place, wonderful hosts and a wonderful bar! We really enjoyed our recent 4 night stay at Left of Field.

We camped in our camper trailer at a spacious powered site which was also semi-private with some shrubs separating our site from others.

The site was level with a large gravel area and also a large grassed area. There was power and water supply at the site, and the toilets and showers were less than a minutes walk away.

The bar was also less than a minutes walk away, which we frequented each day as the selection is beyond anything I've ever seen. The selection of whiskeys and gins, as well as beers, ciders and premixed cans was off the chart.

I would highly recommend staying at Left of Field for anyone wanting a nice relaxed camp site with easy access to some of Tasmania's most amazing natural beauty.

Adrian and Mel have created a really special place here at left of field. A tranquil eclectic garden combined with natural bush. They are excellent hosts and Adrian is a wealth of local knowledge to guide you. The kids loved the fishing, platypus and pademelon spotting. Facilities clean and good hot water! Easy walk to all the falls. Thank you guys

What a great stay at this little paradise. The owner is really pationnate and super helpful. The bar is just amazing, great selection of different beers and wines. It was a perfect start in our holidays and we didn't find any comparable camping on the island. Thank you very much!

This was our 2nd visit to Left of Field. Both times it has been amazing. Adrian and Mel are lovely, accommodating hosts
It's a very family friendly campground. My daughter made fast friends with the children who live there, and all the children who came in over our 3 day stay.
The weather fircast had us expecting some terrible weather, but it turned out quite lovely. Cold, but lovely.
Left of Field is very unique, we've never come across anywhere quite like it.
Very eclectic, but it all works. The bar area is amazing. Will definitely visit again :)

We stayed here for 2 nights in our motorhome, coincidentally when Redmond was also playing music for their music festival. It was the most beautiful feeling to rock up to this campground with live music being played. The vibe is friendly, the owners are very hospitable and the quirkiness of this place is like no other. The amenities were extremely clean, we loved how clean the toilet was and the outdoor shower was amazing! It was so much fun discovering new things, we even cooked and ate in the communal kitchen all our meals as it was so nice to be amongst the trees. We booked an evening bath in their outdoor bathtub which even had a fire pit, the most relaxing way to end our trip here. Highly recommend anyone wanting a unique and different experience to visit this place. Note: there aren't many signs so it allows you to talk to your neighbour to find out where things are, which is so much fun! We absolutely loved our stay here and will definitely come back for a longer time to explore more walks and water holes. Thanks Adrian and Mel for creating this wonderful place!

Amazing campgrounds on lush green grass next to dams filled with yabbies and the chance to see platypus right next to your campsite! Adrian and Mel went all out to accomodate from fully stocked bar of over 100 different scotches and gins to live music acts and fires in the evenings. Adrian went over and above treating my daughter with all sorts of fun activities about the place. A must stay for anyone travelling the south of Tassie

This place was by far the best camp site my partner and I stayed at over the couple of weeks we were in Tasmania. The hosts, Adrian and Mel, are very friendly and helpful and the campsite has a very unique and warm feel to it.

Close to the national Park behind for a lovely 2.5 hour walk seeing the three waterfalls there.

Amenities were clean and easily accessible. Hot water for the showers, flushing toilets which were always clean, kitchen, even a bar which was a nice touch with a wood fire, music and inviting vibe from 4pm. The hot bath they have nestled in amongst the forest off to the side with a fire and lights at night that you can book for 2 hours was absolutely amazing.

Can't fault this place, so much that we stayed 3 nights on 2 separate occassions. Will be back when I return.

Adrian made the first stop of our Tassie road trip so fun and welcoming! Beautiful site with great facilities and a great bar. Also super close to the phenomenal Russell Falls and tall trees. Can only imagine the atmosphere here during summer! 100% recommend to anyone

Big campsites, friendly campers. Owner/managers Adrian and Mel were very welcoming. Not too many rules, basically be considerate of others. Glad we stayed. Close to tourist sites, Russell Falls, Styx River walk and Styx Big Tree walk.
