Oxley Scenic Lookout

Great views of the city of Tamworth. Especially nice at sunset. Lots of younger people and immigrant workers on a Sunday enjoying the views, pick-nicking, and walking on the various trails surrounding the lookout. Definitely worth the drive up if you are in the area.

During my visit to Tamworth, I had the opportunity to explore the Oxley Scenic Lookout, and it was an absolutely stunning experience. This lookout provides some of the most breathtaking panoramic views I’ve ever seen.

The journey to the lookout itself was enjoyable, with well-marked trails and a relatively easy hike. As I reached the summit, I was greeted by an awe-inspiring vista that stretched as far as the eye could see. The Tamworth region’s natural beauty was on full display, with rolling hills, lush greenery, and the Peel River winding its way through the landscape.

The best part was the elevated viewing platform that allowed me to take in the scenery from a perfect vantage point. It was a fantastic spot to capture some incredible photographs, especially during sunrise or sunset. I’d recommend bringing a camera to capture the magic of this place.

What impressed me most about the Oxley Scenic Lookout was its peacefulness and serenity. It’s an ideal spot to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, connect with nature, and simply appreciate the beauty of the Australian countryside.

Great and unexpected view of Tamworth and surrounds. Faces the West so would also be good for sunsets. Easy drive up and people also walk it.

Great spot for a break with great views. Lots of picnic tables under a lovely tree-lined area. Well set out.

Great place to watch Tamworth and surrounds. Nice place for family hangouts and watching magnificent sunset. The Lookout is located at the top of White Street and is easily accessible by vehicle or a moderate hike will bring you to this excellent vantage spot. The views are almost 180 degrees and stretch for kilometres into the distance providing incredible views of both the city and Peel River Valley.

I great lookout with and mazing almost 360 degree view of the area. There's plenty of facilities up there too if you want a picnic or head up there with some take away. A must see when in Tamworth.

Fantastic views over Tamworth. Easy parking at lookout. Must be spectacular in autumn.

Amazing view…awesome spot for a bite ro eat

A few walks start here. It is actually a pretty good spot to either chill or reset before you go to the next walk. We tried seeing sunset but it got too cloudy. Still good view. Plenty of parking and clean public toilets. Very well maintained roads coming uphill to this lookout.

Another spot to visit in Tamworth, the lookout presents the unbelievable experience especially during the sunset. It is a fabulous moment to enjoy the sunset from higher place. Visitors should not miss the moment to visit the lookout if you are in Tamworth.

Great place for a picnic great views of Tamworth

My Husband is so excited to bring me here and I really like the view. There's table's and chair as well that's why we had our lunch there as well.

Oxley Lookout is spectacular. There is literally nowhere you can drive to in Tamworth Shire with an easier spot to take the family (including little ones), oldies or a couple and enjoy the view.
Rain, hail or shine it's a worthwhile spot to visit.
There is a large rest stop facility at the top, with tables and chairs, toilets and multi-level picnic spots so you don't have to sit on top of the next group or person.
This is the perfect spot to watch the sun go down and sip a glass of bubbles and enjoy a cheese board.
Access is limited until 9pm daily

Great view over Tamworth - steep drive but not a long one. Look out for walkers/runners on the narrow road and don’t drive too quickly as the bends are sharp.
