Only 27km from Tenterfield, Boonoo Boonoo National Park has a stunning waterfall, secluded swimming holes, hiking tracks, camping areas, accommodation and picnic spots.
After Banjo Patterson proposed to his sweetheart, Alice Walker, at Boonoo Boonoo Falls lookout, there was movement at Tenterfield cattle station. Word had passed around that the station owner’s daughter had got away. Presumably she loved the guy, but it’s possible that his charming choice of setting in which to pop the question might have helped sway her answer. Alice didn’t have a chance and she and Banjo married in 1903.
Today, Boonoo Boonoo (pronounced bunna-bunoo) is still the ultimate romantic setting, especially after a good rainfall. From the lookout is an uninterrupted view of the Boonoo Boonoo River cascading over the granite cliff edge to become a spectacular waterfall that plunges 210m into the gorge below. Nearby, you’ll find walking tracks and shady places to picnic. Secluded rock pools along the river, lined by wildflower-filled bushland, are the perfect way to cool off on a hot day.

Absolutely worth the visit, even if you're coming from far. The scenery is fantastic, the walks can be as long or as short as you want, and you're always near this picturesque river and the incredible waterfall.

Am amazingly beautiful part of the world and only a short drive from Tenterfield. Also great camping and swimming holes. The dirt track is easy going and approx 14 kilometers (8 mi).

One of the most beautiful places in the area. Gorgeous falls, rock pools and aboriginal sites. As well as some good 4wd areas.

Beautiful walk with small children and some great swimming holes for the warmer weather...

Beautiful camping area, with a gorgeous swimming area. No phone reception either so a blissfully distraction free experience.

A perfect place for families through to experienced hikers. Plenty of tracks for everyone. As a family we did a few of the smaller ones. A very short walk out to the top of the falls and the same distance to the rock pools! Both definitely worth the look!
Plenty of shade and tables around to sit. A few long drop toilets placed around, but not well maintained.
Also remember being a NSW park you will need to pay to enter so having cash with you is helpful or you can use an app!

A great spot to visit, even if you only wish to see the swimming holes & waterfalls. There are picnic facilities including tables, shelter, electric BBQ & a compost toilet. Camping can be booked online also. The views are spectacular and the crisp mountain air delightful. If you need a break away from it all this must be on your list. It's just a short drive over to Bald Rock NP too. Well sign posted and roads are in good shape overall. Enjoy your time far away from politicians!

Astonishing views of waterfalls. Rock pools to swim in. The road trip from Stanthorpe was scenic and easy. Good camping area.

Just beautiful, especially when you get past the campground headed for the waterfall car park, as you get past where the fires went through and experience some truly pristine bush.
Make the effort to explore both walking tracks at the Falls as both have their own, unique rewards.
Walk quietly and try to spot the local skinks or even hear the whispered echo of Banjo Patterson's proposal, said to have happened here.

We love this place. Wild landscape with lots of rock pools and rock features to climb. You can work your way up the valley climbing through the river bed. There is a water area for swimming if desired. Campground is limited so we generally day trip in. Easy gravel road during dry weather and safe enough for 2wd vehicles.

The most beautiful NP. We visited last week (spring) and there were wilfowers blooming everywhere. We did the Morgans Gully walk and the Riverwalk to the falls it was spectacular. Saw 3 platypus. Possum with its baby. Sacred Kingfisher and plenty more. Amenities were almost new and clean . Loved it here
