Turtle Rock itself is not that impressive - you can't climb it...but the trail to it and the Sphinx is well worth it. It has about 70% tree cover so starting after 8am in summer is doable. A slight ascent all the way there with stretches, steps, stairs and a single scramble. Beautifully quiet with an abundance of wildflowers and natural rock sculptures. Experienced walkers will only need 2 and a half hours if you don't go off to do Castle Rock as well.

Very cool views from the back of the turtle formation, accessed via a crevasse at the side. A bit gnarly scrambling on steep bare granite the last few metres. I found it difficult to make out the turtle shape illusion, but the views and fun scrambling made this worthwhile.

Absolutely spectacular walk. A family group, who had hiked up just before us, told us we had to go around the corner and climb up a crevasse between the rocks… to stand on top of Turtle Rock to see the view. It was spectacular!

A nice, easy walk in amongst the boulders and outcrops. This day in early September was bitterly cold and wet - but made for some very moody photos...
