A lovely hike with nice views. The track has easy gradients and is easy to follow. The sphinx only really looks like a sphinx from one angle, but it’s still a cool illusion. There are lots of opportunities for scrambling and bouldering around the area that don’t seem to be developed.

The Sphinx is a gorgeous bush walk but when you reach the Sphinx (a reference to the Egyptian statue with the head of a man, body of a lion), it’s hard to see the shape from up close. We climbed the crevasse at Turtle Rock and had a great view, from standing at the top of Turtle Rock, of the back of the Sphinx. The Castle Rock track also has great views of the Sphinx in the distance.

Lots of fantastic places in Girraween NP, walks are mostly easy and very pleasant.

Sphinx was a bit underwealming after visiting Pyramids and Mt Norman. It is one to do just to say you've done it. Take your best Sphinx pic from turtle rock looking back.
