One of the most spectacular nature spots Sydney. You need to go off the track to get a closer view. Could easily walk straight past it if you didn't know it was there. Lots more people going on weekends and as word gets out but any other time you practically have it to yourself any other time. It's possible to walk right up to the waterfall edge if you are feeling adventurous.

Been to this walk twice and I would say one of the best scenic walks I have done till date. Feels like the end of the world. Steel walkpaths created for most of the walk and pick a mild sunny day to enjoy the walk

Wattamolla to Eagle head rock. Easy walk. Some ups and downs but nothing extremely challenging. Anybody can do it. Boardwalk and rocks but terrain is mostly level.
Park fee applies and can be paid at Wattamolla.

About a 3hrs return trip from Wattamolla carpark, take the south coastal track. Easy but lengthy walk, be careful after rain as walk can be slippery and muddy. 2 river crossings which might be inaccessible if water levels are high. You'll be rewarded with a magnificent view of the eagle rock and also Curracurrong Falls.

It’s an easy 1 hour drive from Sydney to the entrance of the walk in Wattamola Beach. You’ll need to purchase a day national park entrance fee $12/vehicle (you can buy ahead or later otw out). There’s a parking (including disability parking), toilet facility, BBQ and kiosk which opens mostly weekend. I believe there’s a shuttle bus operating at certain days/times transferring visitor from nearest public transportation to the park. The walk itself, the Eagle Rock walk, is an iconic walk of Royal National Park. It’s grade as a moderate, approx 3 hours return walk to the lookout. The walk consists of metal boardwalk and occasionally ascending/steps. It’s a good easy walk for beginner, with beautiful coastal sceneries including waterfall and creeks, and of course the eagle rock itself. The NSWNPS has done a lot of works over years as it’s a very popular walk inside the RNP. Note, the walk is not wheelchair accessible.

We had an awesome hike on a Easter Saturday and really enjoyed the fabulous coastal view along the hike, complementing with a nice sunny day with blue sky, I can’t think of a better way to spend the day 😊

We started the hike from Wattamolla parking, went pass the Curracurrong creek and reach Eagle Rock lookout in about 1.5 hours (with plenty of photo stops along the way). It’s a relatively easy (but lengthy) hike which is roughly 8 km (return). The sceneries along the hike are amazing (Wattamolla falls at the beginning of the hike, amazing rock formations, magnificent costal views and the Curracurrong falls next to the Eagle Rock). The hiking path is well pathed all the way to Eagle Rock with a gradual incline (very manageable), well suited for family with kids and elderly people (on a sunny day otherwise the trail might be slippery).

Although there are plenty of parkings, it does get busy particularly on weekends and public holidays so I’ll suggest get there before 11am (note, we were there around 10:20 am and parkings were already filling up fast with only a few spots left in the car park).

We came from the Garie beach picnic area, around 2 x 4.5 km walk via Royal Coast Track. A bit difficult to go across the beach at the beginning of the walk. A little bit steep hill to climb after the beach. After that point, track is relatively easy.

Eagle Rock was absolutely breathtaking! Although it required about 15 to 20 mins walking to reach, the stunning view made every step worth it. The serene beauty of the sea and its surroundings was truly mesmerising. The perfect weather, the soothing sound of waves, and the tranquil atmosphere left me in awe.

A breathtaking walk along the scenic escarpment. We saw numerous whales as well as black and gang gang cockatoos.

Hiked across to Eagle rock from Garie beach on a wet overcast day and loved it! I was the only person there...possibly the only person on the whole National park coastline due to the weather and it was amazing! You can really appreciate the elements all in one place. Photography wise I found my more successful photos were from framing rock features themselves instead of the actual “Eagle Rock” which is cool but slightly basic if you’re not shooting it in golden hour or even have a subject standing on the rock. The waterfalls also posed great opportunities to get some long exposure captures

Absolutely amazing!!! Although it classifies as moderate from official website, I would consider it on the easy side. Recently, they are laying path, so it is even easier to walk. The view from the other side of the waterfall is magnificent! It is breathtaking view that having waterfall dropping to the ocean directly and the eagle rock just besides. Don't get too close to the edge, especially on a windy day. Other than that, enjoy the view and the hike!

1. Park at P5 wattamolla car park.
2. Royal Coastal walk.
3. 3.4KM walk (one way)
4. Enjoy the coastal view..

First time on the trail today and very impressed. The "boardwalk" along the cliff tops makes it a super enjoyable walk. Be on the lookout for the eagle Rock though. There's no sign telling you where it is!

The rock itself looks more like a turtle but the view and the waterfall make up for it massively. The 4.3km walk is relatively steep in some areas so be prepared. You cannot drive down the trail unless unlocked and in a 4wd. It look on average an hour 10 to walk to the rock.

If you can do a little hike, it's really great spot but you have to do hiking of 1 and half hour to reach the spot

came here from Wattamolla parking site via Providential lookout. the 2 x 4.3km coastal walk is relatively easy, a bit long walk for people have knee problem like myself, but well worth!!!
