Port Hughes Jetty

Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of driving to Port Hughes Jetty with my family. Port Hughes is a charming and picturesque town known for its scenic beauty . Our time there was spent enjoying picnics and fishing, although we noticed a lack of crabs, perhaps due to the current season. However, we were fortunate to catch three sizable squid. The experience was delightful, and we are considering extending our stay to two or three nights during future holiday periods. The availability of cabins adds an appealing option for accommodation, which we may explore on our next visit.

This is one of the many jetties along the Copper Coast of South Australia. Very popular with the fishermen. It's a long, solid, wooden structure with great views. Theres white sandy beaches on either side of the jetty & a general store where you can grab a bite or coffee

Morning walk along the jetty. Lots of fishing action, with catches of squid and garfish. The clarity of the water was fantastic.

Plenty of room to park. Brand new boat ramps. Nice picnic area.

Nice peaceful place. On the day I visited there was an onshore wind and a bit of swell, so I went to Ardrossane to scuba dive instead. So I scuba dived Port Hughes a few weeks later when the weather was better. Loads of fish and other critters. Also a mobility scooter on the seabed at the end of the jetty.

We had a picnic and went fishing. my sisters played in the park and swam. The beach was beautiful.

Great jetty but NOT in the holidays! Super busy with the river floods this year.
South Beach to the left is sandy & clear waters. You could be in Broome! (oops, except togs are required here! 😁) To the right is the Cove, bit more sheltered.

I've been fishing around the York Peninsula for the past few days and found this jetty to be the most productive for squid. My son and I had a ball jigging there.

Port Hughes Beach is awesome its clean and you can bring your dog for a swimm the water is very clear its a good day out 😎

Yeah this is a great place for fishing and just generally with the family and all of the surrounding area the program is amazing there is a restaurant pub and also a lovely shop where you can buy things for fishing and also set down and have lunch and a milkshake

It's a great jetty for squid.
There's a terrific general store with great fish and chips. I really appreciate it. How helpful they were when I got my seafood platter for one.
I love my chicken salt and they even gave me a little dish with some extra in it. This was very kind and made me happy.
There's an absolute turn of parking so that's a good thing as well. The son always sits over the ocean. It's very beautiful.

Sunset at Port Hughes is a spectacular moment that you will experience. The sun sets in the west and never to be seen until the next day. This itself is a reminder to enjoy every moment of the day
