Fantastic grassy location, $10 is a bargain. Plenty of beaches and fishing spots nearby. Portland only 30 mins up the road. Was here at its busiest across Labor Day weekend and it was surprisingly quiet at night. Telstra reception is a little hit and miss.

Wonderful campsite! many spots, the area and toilet are tidy. Good reception for the Telstra. Only 5 minutes walk to see the ocean. 5 stars definitely😀

First time coming here. It was a great experience and price $10 per night for peak was fantastic. We had the river to kayak and fish on and the ocean to surf fish . Dogs were on leash at all times but being able to take them to the beach for a swim and run off leash to play Frisbee when others were at a distance help them enjoy their stay as well . Other campers were extremely nice and friendly which was great to experience. Definitely coming back for another visit. Caretaker on site thank you John for the chats and letting us know the history on the area.

NOT FREE! $10/night. A beautiful grassy campground set behind the dunes, so more protected from the wind. A river right on your doorstep to paddle or swim. Caretaker on site. Lots of spots to choose from. Suitable for wet weather. 3bars 4g reception Telstra.

Hi Readers, Writing review about this place is just give you information and make you aware of those things, which I experienced during my stay. First and foremost, we randomly chosen this location when i was riding from Nelson towards Portland. We reached at this place just to check what we will explore if we stayed here. During our stay from 5 Nov 2023- 7 Nov 2023, I experienced and explored various things. Firstly, this site is free from fees till 1 Dec 2023 as I had a chat with the site officer. Secondly, 2 door drop toilet is little smelly , there was no toilet paper, so bring your own for a safer side. Thirdly, mostly you will see caravans around you. we were with 4WD camping gears at site 18. The site 18 , I found much better because it was corner, with quite privacy as we wanted. The reason for choosing site 18 was also that we reached at this site around 2 pm on 5 Nov 2023 and other campers already had occupied the places on the edge of the river . As per my observation, you will see mostly locals from Portland , Narrawong around you. These are nearest town within 30 mins reach if you wish to grab food supplies or anything else. Fourthly, beach is amazing with picturesque view and beautiful sunset. Fifthly, you will enjoy the riverside and pathway walk, swimming, kayaking, fishing at designated area. You can drive on the beach as well. It's dog friendly. I must say you would Definitely enjoy the camping as much as we enjoyed. Hope this review will be helpful to you. Enjoy and explore!

Great dispersed camp ground. Many areas to camp that are sheltered from the wind. It can get very windy here if you camp by the water. Overall great site with clean drop dunnies and good Telstra mobile network reception too.

We camped after Christmas through to New year's 2020, such an awesome location. When we stayed there was $8 fee per night, with a caretaker on grounds that looked after everyone and the drop toilets which was well worth it. Lots of green grass to camp on, suitable for caravans & tents. Plenty of Bream fishes to catch in the river. My husband took the Poly Craft out on the water to do some sightseeing & caught a few big breams. We also took the 4wd out to the beach to surf fish & catch pippies. Recommended to deflate tyres when accessing the beach or you can easily walk out to the beach through the shallow river mouth. I let the kids play at the river mouth at low tide so we didn't have to worry about big waves. Water was nice and warm with the summer heat. Definitely recommend & will definitely come back.

Oh it was wonderful nice grass to lay my tent down on and right on the salt water river for fishing. Was definitely disappointed that I had to go but I did have the best night sleep. Will be coming back for sure thank you so much

Camp site fees are: (as of Feb 2020)

Remember to bring toilet paper, Only 2 Toilets for whole site and tends to run out of loo paper.

Great place, best smelling drop dunny you'll find... weird, but true.

Lots of room, you are right on the river, with a jetty and ramp just before the camp, yours also a short walk to the beach.

Absolutely loved it there, only downsite was not being able to have proper access to the beach due to the river not breaking yet and it was flooding the road to get through- although there was a goat track to get there aswell, if you have little children makes it abit harder but still lots of great fun, fish close by. Lovely veiw the beach ( if you're standing up on the hill behind the toilets ) biggest let down was one of the care takers.. not letting people just do what they wanted to do with placing their caravans and tents in place. Always had to be a certain way, noticed atleast 3 people took off because he came and decided that the way some people were set up wasnt good enough for him and he kept trying to make people move.. other then that, i would highlu recommend checking it out ! Nice and quiet, it was lovely laying in bed at night time listening to the waves crashing at the beach
