The food here definitely reminded me of home. Every dish was so amazing! Especially loved the butter chicken and the salt and pepper tofu. The hospitality was impeccable! Jerena made me feel right at home straight away! I definitely wish they had an outlet closer to me. I’m sure I’d visit them everyday. Highly recommend trying this place out for amazing Malaysian food!

Wow what an experience! Passage Thru Malaysia, located in Main St. Greensborough has a cool vibe, a relaxing atmosphere, with very friendly staff.

I had the pleasure of meeting the owner Jerena, whom was very welcoming and gave me a tour of the restaurant. I got to see the “Vault” room, which is the event room and it looked fantastic.

The food here is so delicious! I enjoyed everything I ate. If I had to pick my favourite dish, it would be the mantou buns, which I soaked in the delicious chicken curry and savoured till the last bite.

Another favourite I have to mention was the Salt and Pepper Tofu, it was very flavoursome, and a great option for vegetarians. The ingredients were so tasty.

I am grateful that this place is local, and I can’t wait to revisit.

Passage Thru Malaysia is definitely my favourite Malaysian restaurant in Melbourne!

We've been twice now and on both occasions we've had incredible experiences not only due to the divine food, but also the exceptional level of customer service.

We ordered a few of the favourite dishes including the lemon chicken and the black pepper beef, as well as some new dishes including the Salt and Pepper Chicken sliders.

The food was absolutely beautiful. My favourite dish was definitely the lemon chicken. The chicken was tender and juicy and the lemon sauce was full of zest and flavour. The sliders were also fantastic - they were decently-sized and they were incredibly flavoursome.

We left feeling very satisfied and we were extremely pleased with our experience. As mentioned earlier, the customer service here is phenomenal; the staff are eager to please and cater to all your needs.

We cannot wait to return!

Walking into this place was seriously like a Passage thru Malaysia. The photos and items that decorate the venue are all imported and some are even really rare and priceless as they have withstood the test of time.

The food is seriously exceptional. The menu is massive so you can be sure that you will find something to satisfy your cravings.

We tried so many things and we must admit that the Beef Rendang and the Nasi Lemak with fried chicken were the ones that still make our mouths salivating even thinking about them.

The venue is also quite big and you will definitely have a lot of fun booking your next function here. They even have a special room that is like a vault for your private functions.

Service is so welcoming and warm. You can always trust the waiters to recommend some of the dishes. They are so helpful and accommodating.

Cannot wait to go back.

Coming from a Malaysian heritage, Passage Thru Malaysia feels like a home away from home for me. Their dishes are so flavoursome you can't go wrong with anything you order on the menu. My personal favourite dishes are the laksa, mantou & their salted egg chicken ribs. The staff here are beyond welcoming & friendly. I always leave here with a full belly & a huge smile on my face

We took a delicious second visit to PTM last night. It was a balmy 28 degrees and perfect for cocktails and some Malaysian food. My previous review mentions how spacious the venue is and in the days of social distancing this space worked a treat.

We sat near the front window and ordered cocktails... mine a blushing syrup mocktail in a tall glass and KD the Vodka Ribena Lychee. Cooling and refreshing.

Food wise the menu has changed quite a bit since our last visit. That said I was glad of a repeat order of their delicious butter chicken which was sweet and battered and moorish. We had this with a generous plate of Belecan fried rice which paired perfectly.

From the Malaysian tapas section we gave the Nestum Prawns a go. These popping tender prawns were covered in a bowl of semi sweet cereal that was similar in texture to crumbed wafers. A really interesting dish.

Another tapas dish was the veggie curry mantou. A red curry with plenty of tofu and greens accompanied by delicious Asian style mantou buns which were quite sweet and almost donut in texture. Tear and dunk and enjoy.

We loved the extensive menu and service on both occasions was friendly and prompt. Thanks to the team at Passage Thru Malaysia for their hospitality.

The first thing we noticed when we arrived at Passage Thru Malaysia was the space. It was huge and deep. Located in what was an old bank there was even a private function room made out of the safe that might be a good place to take your raucous friends.

This casual dining restaurant has recently won the best newcomer restaurant award with Banyule City council as nominated by the community and was a top three finalist in the overall best restaurant award.

They serve up a huge range of tapas and larger Malaysian dishes with plenty of my favourites and a few new dishes I hadn’t tried befor

We started with a couple of “syrup” drinks, one with a blend of syrup and condensed milk. Pretty and pink and tasting somewhat of rose water these were refreshing and tasty

Food wise we started with chicken satay which were sizeable skewers and a generous satay bowl which we later used to dip our roti in. Nice and tender and served with slices of cucumber, this was a good version of this popular dish.

We then moved on the the more sizeable dishes ordering the Nasi Lemak with a Beef Randang curry, the Malaysian Butter Chicken and the Mamak Mee Goreng.

My favourite and the dish I think everyone should order here is the Butter Chicken. Don’t expect any similarity to the Indian version of this dish... but do expect delicious fried chicken with a thin crisp surface dusting and some amazingly morish flavours and a sauce that I can’t even begin to describe. By far the best dish of the night and my only disappointment was that I had agreed to share.

The Nasi Lemak was a great version of this dish. The beef curry was tender and flavoursome with a nice heat level, coconut rice tasted great with anchovies, egg and peanuts accompaniments. It was presented very nicely too.

The Mamak Mee Goreng was a mild noodle stir fried dish with chicken and tofu pieces. I love the texture of these thick yellow noodles and the lemon juice gave the dish a little bit of zest but the dish needed a little more flavour to keep up with the other big hitting dishes we received. If you removed the chillies from the top this could be a good option for the fussy kid who doesn’t want to spice up their life.

We had a really great time tonight at Passage Thru Malaysia and it was good to see the place so busy on a Tuesday night. Thanks so much for inviting us in.

Delicious gem tucked away in Greensborough serving up the most delicious Malaysian food!

The restaurant has such a cute and homely setup, with old photos sourced from all over Malaysia dotting the walls and numerous other Malaysian style trinkets on display. Since the building used to be a bank, they even have their own “vault”, which has been converted in a super cool private dining room!

The menu is huge, with all the classics like nasi lemak and laksa, as well as more modern sharing style tapas dishes like sliders and roti rolls. Everything I tried was so delicious and flavourful.

I absolutely loved my experience here, made all the better by J and the team who were all so friendly and welcoming.

The restaurant looked absolutely lovely. The origami hanging from the ceiling and the pictures on the wall really made the whole place look welcoming. The staff were very friendly and helpful with choosing the menu items that would best suit your needs. The volt room is stunning and highly recommend trying to book it if you have 6 or more guests as it is a special place to dine in. The food was wholesome and flavoursome. The dishes were all packed with flavour and the rice and noodle dishes were very generous in size. The Mamak Nasi Goreng was a stand out dish. The flavour of the rice were delicious and every mouthful was incredible! This is definitely a dish I recommend getting! The Vegan sliders were also a standout! the bun was so crispy on the outside with a sift and fluffy inside. The tofu was also flavoured really nicely and the sauce added so much flavour. Wish I had order more of these! The cocktails were delicious! you could really taste the lychee in them and the Lychee Moscato looked so pretty as well. This restaurant is good for sharing so you can try a larger variety of dishes in one meal.

I don't even live near by and decided to drive 50 mins there to just have the laksa. Best decision I've ever made, it's the best laksa that I've ever tasted in Melbourne. And the roti 👌 you can really tell they are freshly hand made and very authentic. The staff are very friendly, I'd go back again because I want to taste the whole menu.

SOOO cute and authentic! From the minute you walk in you’re immediately transported to Malaysia, for someone like me who has been to Malaysia it makes me so happy how similar their restaurant’s decor is to the real thing. Love their paper cranes that hang from the roof.

Obviously visiting multiple times, I have tried a wide variety of PTM dishes. Some of my stand out dishes include the curry mantous OMG, the best dish on the menu!!! Other dishes include Char Kway Teow, Salted egg ribs, Roti Roll and Nasi Lamak.
