Lyell McEwin Hospital

I have delivered my baby this month in this hospital. Before admission i heard so bad about this hospital but am so thankful to the nurses, midwives( sohaila,shippy and rox) and all the doctors whoever involved in my care during delivery and postpartum care. Moreover, in special care nursery my baby got best care my all the midwives and they guided me their best in breast feeding as well. The most important thing is that you get to involved in all your treatment. Just want to advice people who have bad opinion about this hospital be good , if you want to treat well.

I had to have a procedure done through the gastric unit/ outpatients.
Came through the op fine then things were a little pear shape with my pain. The nurses and Drs were fantastic in getting my pain under control very quickly.i was eventually admitted for am over night stay. The nurse who I would like to give a HUGE thank you to was Ellen, her beside manner was genuinely caring and she was very reassuring and I felt like I was given the utmost care. Thank you Ellen....what a beautiful nurse you are.

In the 40yrs of using this hospital I have found staff to be very helpful. Hubby needed emergency surgery 2yrs ago, was looked after extremely well. Unfortunately when people with small injuries or colds go to emergency, taking precious time from those who arrive in ambulances, then expect to be treated first, create merry havoc and then go online and whine, all I can say to you is would you like cheese with that. Seriously go to the medical clinics, there are plenty around, emergency is for that, urgent treatment and attention for near death patients, not someone with a cut finger or snotty nose. Also might be nice to perhaps consider the fact there are other people in the world and perhaps their heart attack is more important than your hang nail

I recently was admitted to the Lyell Mac and as far as I am concerned we are very fortunate to have such an excellent hospital nearby. I was more than humbled by the amount of genuine care and compassion that everyone from the Dr's, nurses, orderlies and everyone inbetween showed towards me. Excellent staff and great food to boot. Thank you to one and all.

My daughter was born and then transferred from Gawler to the Lyell McEwin Special Care Nursey for 4 days due to an infection. On her stay in this nursery the nurses were absolutely incredible. They took such good care of my daughter and of course I still hated leaving her at the hospital but they made me feel alot less stressed about it by being so great. I was updated everyday about my daughters care and whilst she was in the nursery all she did was flourish and was able to come home before the expected date. All the nurses in this nursery are amazing. Thankyou so much for taking such good care of my little princess ❤

Had an amazing experience at lyel Mac today. Special mention to Kat and Jason. Came in with an ankle injury and they were funny and lighthearted. Made the whole experience nicer. The streamlined process made for a stress free visit. (P.s. thanks for the drugs 🤣🤣🤣)

I was transferred to this hospital from Port Pirie because my health issues were very difficult to get treated at Port Pirie hospital. When I was first taken to this Lyell McEwinhospital, I was having excessive pain on my stomach, headache, legs shaking etc, I didn’t know where I was stayed but I was in very painful condition and little bit unconscious too; first the two ladies who were looking for me were horrible: one with the blue eyes was very rude and seemed very unprofessional she asked me in a rude manner you are feeling far better than when you entered how you categorize yourself out of 10 regarding my pain. The next lady she is very careless, very very unprofessional and rude. She really felt bored doing all the stuffs though it’s her responsibility to do her job and she had kept the tape on the area where the blood sample used to be taken not in the way other nurses used to do later on one lady shift coordinator came and I told her and she fixed it for me.

Luckily Maria Greens who were wearing a scalf and Darren did a great support to me. When I saw her doing everything possible from their side to make me feel comfortable, I remembered my parents and their care to me. She was looking after me like my parent because Adelaide was a completely new place for us and we didn’t have any relatives or friends who can look after me on the behalf of my husband . I were very frustrated giving explanations to everyone who came there to see me asking what happened to me though there was a paper on the table where my name, dob, kin and what happened to me were mentioned clearly. Both of them Darren and Maria Greens were very very professional, enthusiastic, caring,dedicated and honest nurses who helped me a lot so that I felt relieved and my pain will be gone somehow. Both Maria and young nurse Jordan moved me to level 2 ward 2D. I could not even say thanks to Darren. He was not there at the time when I was moving.
Nurse Jordan seemed very professional, enthusiastic, energetic and loyal and friendly nurse though he seemed very young. Then after doctor shivy, all the nurses I didn’t know the names of all nurses but Deepal,Tash, Andrea, Deb are very very professional, energetic, kind, caring and dedicated persons . Another Maria who has worked for more than 40 years at hospital who was looking after me was also a very kind, helpful, energetic and dedicated person. Thankful to everyone for your great service to me. Please kindly arrange 1-2 staffs more because I feel like it would have been better if 1-2 more nurses will be employed so that the nurses do not have to be on rush and can look after the patient very carefully.
I highly recommend this hospital to do the treatment for the patients who want to do their treatment in a very good environment with proper care and with the very professional doctors and nurses. Thankful to the kitchen teams for providing food to my husband for free and the food we want to have by asking us what we want to eat and giving us the options to select❤😊 Really appreciated your kind support❤😊

I'm mauro, months ago from when I spoke to Lyell McEwin over the phone there were incredibly helpful which put my mind at ease. Then few weeks back pre-appointment was amazing and Angie looked after me then today for the procedures still amazing with Sue,Belinda and Matt the surgeon, Lewis and others forgot names with anaestheticand all. Although we waited for over 9 hours last night to be seen, the staff did their best to do as much as they could. They don't get near enough recognition and I feel they are let down by government. Congratulations to the staff for doing their best.

I had a horrific car accident today, my 14 yr old grand daughter and myself were transferred by 2x ambulances to this hospital. We were both treated promptly and with beautiful nurses and doctors...my doctor was caring and was very thorough.
I only know her by the name...Dr Amy. Thank you for your care and compassion during my testing / scans /xrays etc. The nurses were beyond amazing. Thank you for treating me with absolute dignity. Nurse Kate was exceptional....she took my husband to see our grand daughter personally...this was such a kind gesture. Kate also wheeled me out to our car on my release. Kate nurses like you are so worthy of recognition as you make a scary experience that much better. All staff at the hospital were a magnificent team.

I took my mum to emergency this morning as she had a fall and broke her shoulder. From the moment we arrived she was treated with compassion and kindness. She was assessed and treated immediately. The nursing, admin and doctors were absolutely wonderful, so too the volunteer who brought us both a coffee. Thank you for all you do. 🙏

My experience was best in this hospital. I gave birth to baby girl with normal delivery. All staff was very professional and cooperative but most of all I would like to thank Anne midwife nurse. She did amazing job and motivate me a lot during my delivery. she support me every minute of my journey. They work hard, doing good job and I appreciate it. Thank you so much.

Went to emergency with my very sick adult son was seen straight away, nurses were wonderful and the Doctor knew her stuff and was very informative. Great job by a great team. Thank you

Thank you to the wonderful people at the Gastro unit who gave such professional and friendly assistance for my Endo procedure.

I have had a recent knee injury, the care that I have received at the allied health clinic is amazing, the PHYSIO Kahala Seth and Richard, they listen to me have given great advice.

My Partner and I recently welcomed our baby at the Lyell McEwin.
We can't speak highly enough of the Midwives and Doctors, honestly no compliants! On the contrary nothing but praise and thanks to each of you!

We felt very safe and supported, we were always kept well informed and the follow up aftercare is such an awesome service.

The nurses genuinely care and are there to help you with anything/ put your mind at ease, an absolute God send for new/ inexperienced parents.

I would say that those who complain about this service either expect hotel like service with 1 to 1 Nurse, waiting on them hand and foot...Or they aren't getting the answers they want to hear.... Or perhaps they themselves are just rude/ abrasive people.

Staff do the best they can during these times, I was handled with positive spirits with all that took care of me, except for one person at the ED booth, understandably though... That room is chaos at times

Matthew in ED was great with me. Well all of them were but he was the only one name I remembered, just the way he spoke to me was cool and reinforcing that everything will be alright

These people are doing some amazing work, keeping positive towards patients despite the environment they work in

All doctors and midwives I dealt with were amazing, helpful and do more than what is expected of them. I am very grateful for the care we received here and even more so for those who helped me during labour.

My Mum has been in there for about 4 weeks. The Dr and Nurses in 1B were amazing. Especially Dr Ross explaining everything about what was happening. The nurses were soo caring too...great job everyone we are so appreciated your hard work and dedication

Took my granddaughter to emergency and into pediatrics, admittedly we had a long wait, but the nurses and Doctors in pediatrics were amazing, made my granddaughter feel so special so she could have procedure done.
