Always a great place to catch up for drinks even if comfy seats could do with reupholstering. Was there for Starward Whisky Lunch. Food was delicious especially the dessert combined with Starward Honeycomb whisky.

Excellent food, service & experience. The Chef’s menu for A$59 is a great value. Remember to do the bacon & whiskey flight, it’s a good experience

Wow what can we say! We hosted a 30th here last night and the team at Varnish were so incredibly accomodating and amazing! The food was delish, the drinks even better and the atmosphere (topped off with the fabulous staff) was next level. We can’t wait to come back here again!

Last night we came as a group of 4. We took the feed me menu and we had an amazing selection of starters, mains and sides and a dessert. All dishes were amazing and I mean ALL, the meat came medium rare as requested with the most delicious jus and garnish, paired with greens and cheesy macaroni. The wine we ordered was a delish Pinot noir recommended by the manager Enrico who was also utterly charming, welcoming and eager to help and advice.

This place rocks! Music matches the style of bar, staff are friendly and clearly take pride in their trade.

Although you have to wait a while for service at peak time, it's because the staff ensure they get the mixes just right.

Thoroughly recommended if you enjoy whiskey, bourbon, or mixes.

This place is a little gem and although it was clearly understaffed, I have to say Enrico our Server did a phenomenal job of going above and beyond to take care of us and many other diners! Rarely do you find this level of service in Perth, Enrico is a true asset for this business! 🌟

Very nice place, super cozy and the service is impeccable, I have been twice and these two guys always in a good mood and giving the best service. I think is the only place open till late in town 😅 beers are amazing and for whiskey livers there are many options, totally recommend!

Great ambience, very friendly and fast service staff. Good crowd always too. If you are here you must try the bacon shots platter. That's a big highlight. Ohhhh and top notch whiskey sour.

Great atmosphere and service. The guy served us was very nice :) and the girl. food nice as you can see in the pic, way too much for two of us for 79 bucks deal. Never leave hungry nor drunk! Thanks guys.

One of my favourite haunts. Exceptional service from the staff, the food is to die for and then there is the world class range of whisk(e)y. Some tasty cocktails that suit all tastes and the classics along with hard to find bourbons that you can’t pass on. Thanks again Varnish. An easy 5-stars.

I lived in America for most of my life and the south has always had food that just couldn't be found anywhere else in the world. The chef here takes that Southern comfort cooking and adds a flare to it that makes it like no other I have tried. The bartender on duty today was really knowledgeable on the whiskey line and provided a high level of service that I haven't really seen in Australia much. Every bit of our experience there was great and we will be returning to try something new!

Varnish on King is just on their own level. Excellent - one of a kind establishment.

Bartender genuinely wants the best service for you and they tend to everyone promptly.

The atmosphere is very suave and dimly lit so my photos don't do the food justice, but this is one of the best meals I've ever had, and definitley the best steak I've ever had, highly recommend this place if you love meat and whiskey. Only issue was the bacon flight listed the menu and the one we got were not the same which was a little disappointing as the one we didn't get was the one we were the most excited for, so perhaps ask the waitor if you're particular on your bacon (it was still delicious though). Everything else was perfect though!
Also I highly reccomend booking, luckily we did as every table in there was reserved, seems to be a popular place and I see why!

There was a small mishap with our food docket, but chef Sophie and Enrico, who waited on our table, dealt with it so fabulously that we felt really looked after and had a lovely night.

Awesome inner city bar! Knowledgeable staff. Go the whiskey bacon flight pineapple molasses bacon was the standout! Highly recommend!

BACON and whisky flight! Need I say more. I’ve been to Perth a few times now and each time requires a visit to Varnish to indulge in this wonderful plate of tastebuds decadence. A great atmosphere below street level and once my fiancé and I were the only ones there as we went right on opening and we still felt like the place had enough atmosphere for us as lone diners. The cocktail list is also a must.
