Sharing this for the first time after countless of visits. Mostly here for dinner. Petition is an upscale casual restaurant located inside the State Building in Perth CBD. It has a nice vibe and very popular. They have the best Broccoli & mixed grain salad, ever! The last time we dined here, we ordered chargrilled octopus, beef rump, heirloom carrots salad, broccoli salad, lamb loin and a few others. We enjoyed the food as usual but I must say for the very first time that the lamb loin was a let down. The taste was just not right. I’m sure this will be fixed. I didn’t take any star off because I’ve been here many times. This doesn’t tarnish the restaurant’s reputation in my eyes. Definitely will return to dine for more.

Overall experience was excellent. Drinks, food and service was top notch despite how busy it was. Only fault was the chocolate fondant which really was more cake...tasted good, but but expecting chocolate to ooze out of it. Hope it is a once off.

Enjoyable food in a nice atmosphere with attentive staff and quick service. Their menu seems to change regularly and they offer a wide range of meals, with our small selection being well prepared, at the table within 10 minutes of ordering and of amazing taste.
The only downside is that their breakfast menu ends around 10:30, but that is likely less of an issue for you than it was for us 😉

The waiter suggested the Chefs plate which was a banquet of surprise dishes from the chef. Great choice and simply delicious.

My new favourite spot in Perth for a special occasion.

My first visit to Petition, I had a late Saturday breakfast there. I had shakshuka and a long black coffee. I liked the atmosphere, the taste of the coffee, the warm bread that came with the meal and the dukkah on the egg yolk. Service was polite. A good first impression.

They change menu’s during the day, depending at what time you get there. Breakfast serves until 12:00, after that will be another lunch menu. Great choices both for breakfast and lunch. Amazing quality of products and ingredients. In our 5days trip, we went there 3 times for breakfast/lunch! We loved everything we ordered. All tasted great! Would definitely go back again!!

The ambience and vibes were absolutely perfect for lunch date with my Wife. The chefs special was one hell of a course. Service was exceptional and the staff there were lively as ever. Loved the experience ! Would definitely recommend anyone and everyone to come atleast once in your lifetime or else you are missing alot.

It's a rare occasion when we eat a chef's menu and every dish is good. That's what happened tonight at Petition.

You pick a main and the chef will choose 7 other dishes to share and go along with it. It was great how even the most simple of dishes would be packed with flavour. Some restaurants are all about the presentation but the flavours are not there. It's not like the dishes at Petition are not well presented (because they are), they are just not trying to be flashy for the sake of it.

Also, get the Margarita. It was delicious.

Spectacular restaurant. Definitely worth the money and time. Went there on a Monday and boy it was crowded. I couldn't believe it. We had such a good time, we chatted until everyone left and they still did not ask us to leave. Wonderful service. 2nd to none. The food (Pork lion) was excellent and so was the nutty salad. Yum. The wine list has some interesting drops that are brilliant. It is one thing to expect something great, but to experience it... Something else.

If you are into natural wines this will be your heaven. They have an amazing selection of natural wines, I enjoyed the dark ambient of the bar, cool vibes. Definitely recommend to try Jauma Grenache and MUZ vermouth, you won’t regret 😀. Broccoli salad was also very delicious!

Absolutely fantastic restaurant. We ordered the feed me meal and left completely satisfied. The service here is on point and the food quality is sensational. We stopped and had a couple of beers at the Beer Corner next door before going to dinner, it is also highly recommended to visit.

When i mentioned i was vegan, they brought out an entirely separate vegetarian and vegan menu, and I was surprised by how good the options were! I ordered the chickpea panise which was almost like an old school vege stack, but with layers of chickpea that reminded me of firm polenta and a really good vegan fetta on top. Really delicious! Service was exceptional and they even brought out an extra dish from the kitchen for us to try which was the korean flavoured cauliflower. Very impressed by the flavours of both dishes and would order them both again. They also had a vegan sorbet for desert that they went out of their way to suggest for me but I didn't order it. I've found it hard to find vegan options in the state buildings previously, so it was a very pleasant surprise to see they had some!

The service and atmosphere made for a very easy start to the morning. I had the poached eggs and salmon with the sauce on the side.

Like any breakfast with wilted spinach it is hard to not have wet toast, which detracts from the crunch of the fantastic break. The eggs, salmon, sauce and toast were all cooked very well. The spinach could be drained a little more, or presented in the side.

Fantastic coffee, I'd try Petition again.

I had the lamb, while my wife opted for the pork; originally we had planned to share, but instead we both decided we liked our own meals too much to give any away! Flavour pairings of the mains were absolutely sensational, and the wine recommendation from the waitstaff (a Sangiovese from the Adelaide Hills) was absolutely dead on. Their attention to detail around the venue was also something to note - clean, tidy, no dust on the windowsills/frames, no out-of-place decor, menus weren’t creased, tables and chairs weren’t wobbly, and the waiter who served us had the biggest smile this side of the Swan River. Those little things do add up, and I promise that those who know what to look for (like hospitality workers, such as myself) absolutely notice and appreciate it. Exceptional, will be returning.

This establishment sports a good range of specialty beers. It has a pleasant atmosphere and is not too noisey so it is fine for having a meeting our conducting a conversation.

The Petition Kitchen
The kitchen is a spacious and comfortable venue. The food is excellent and the service is at a very high level. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed and it is easy to conduct a business or personal conversation without having to raise your voice. The quality of the food is outstanding. The menu provides a good variety of choices and there would almost certainly be something to satisfy every palate. The venue is licensed so is a great place to stop for a snack and a drink or a full meal.
