I have a Multiple Epiphyseal Dysplasia, a congenital disorder that affects all my joints. I have had a number of joint replacements throughout my life. I was having a lot of pain and a loss of strength and function in a shoulder that had a decade old replacement. This was affecting my sleep and my daily life. I had tried everything I could think of to provide relief whilst waiting to get an appointment with my surgeon. My wife saw the reviews for Dr Chen on google and he saw me straight away and started treating me.

I must admit I was skeptical initially and found my shoulder was painful following the first couple of treatments and I was not sure if the treatments were making it worse. I am so glad that I persisted as every session following this has markedly improved my shoulder function, range of movement and helped so much with the pain.

In 2012 my neck was so stiff that I could not turn my head without turning my whole body. Also I could not sleep for the pain and discomfort and this had an impact on my work. My GP said ''Osteoarthritis. No cure. Take Panadol.'' Painkillers did not give me relief. My career was at risk.
A friend told me of Ronald who had fixed his knee after he had a bicycle accident.
Ronald identified my stiff neck problem as actually coming from locked muscles in my shoulder blades. I got wonderful relief from the first treatment. The treatment was like a firm massage on pressure points around my shoulder blades. I came back for three or four treatments and my neck was freed completely.

I have had polio since I was three and about six years ago was diagnosed with post-polio syndrome. My good leg, my left leg, was losing much of its function. I could feel my mobility declining steadily, especially from 2020 onwards. At the same time my backpain and pain in my neck and shoulders was getting worse. I tried physiotherapy and acupuncture but, by 2022 neither of them were helping. I needed pain-killers every night to dull the pain.
I have been seeing Dr Ronald Chen for almost seven months now. The difference has been dramatic. Within a few weeks with treatments twice a week I no longer needed pain-killers even at night. Over time that regime was changed to once a week and is now once a fortnight. There has been a steady improvement in my mobility. Without the pain I can do the things I enjoy -- swimming a kilometre most days, walking moderate distances, doing my own shopping, coping with living alone. It is not a complete magic cure -- the loss of some muscle function in my good leg remains, and my paralysed withered right leg is the same as it has been since I was three. However, the downward trajectory has been altered. The absence of pain is remarkable. A few weeks ago I travelled to Europe, was able to walk about by myself in the cities i visited, experienced no neck, shoulder or back pain. I no longer take pain killers except for completely unrelated issues like, briefly, for toothache.

I have been to many chiropractors and acupuncturists over the years for lower back issues, and upper neck and shoulder pain and have felt they have eased my pain, but I have continued to have to see them on a monthly basis.

My 89yr old mum was in so much pain, two treatments of quarterzone injections were unsuccessful and a simple short car trip was painful. Ronald gave us a consult and was honest the whole time letting us know that if he didn’t think he could help her he would tell us. Well my mum has come in leaps and bounds, well as much as an 89 yr old can after a broken femur 2yrs ago. Mum manages to walk without her walking cane and is so much more mobile. Ronald really has magic hands and I would not hesitate to recommend him.

I went to see Ronald around May for pinched nerve affecting the C5/6 left nerve roots area. I felt a tingling feeling on my left arm and it had become painful around the neck. I had a scan and eventually an MRI of the area and the doctors' recommendation was to try a CT guided foraminal injection. I decided to see Ronald because an injection wouldn't fix the problem but, like a Panadol , it would just alleviate the symptoms, and there was no guarantee it would even do that. Ronald made me try to lift my head up but, on my initial visits, I couldn't at all. He told me treatment would take a while, and he couldn't guarantee success because the area was badly affected, and I am 70 years old. After two months treatment my neck became flexible again, I could look up, and the pain went away. I was very pleased and, I think, that Ronald was surprised that his treatment worked so well. I now see him about once a month for "maintenance" as he calls it! Highly recommended.

Dr Chen is a fabulous practitioner which I highly recommend. Physio was not progressing improvement in my shoulder, and actually mis-diagnosed the underlying issue. I am so grateful to Dr Chen and his knowledge and treatment. My shoulder is nearly back to 100% movement.
