Bushranger John Gilbert's Grave (no Museum)

Fascinating - well signed and cared for (despite others’ reviews from a few years ago).
Worth a pull over, interesting insight into the early colonisation history and lawlessness. The signage is very informative.
John was only 25 years old when he died, after four years of bushranging. The town itself is interesting to drive through, a preserved old gold mining town - recommend ducking into the pub and driving past the old railway station.

It’s easy to find on the left hand side of the road, just outside of Binalong as you head toward Harden. The information board is a wealth of information. There’s a memorial at Jugiong for Seargeant Parry, officer who was killed by Gilbert during a stage coach robbery. Gilbert was a member of the Ben Hall gang. Video on YouTube.

Just off the side of the road, interesting little spot with a bit of Australian history. Can spend 10 minutes or an hour.

It's such a shame that we Australians don't better preserve our history. It was hard to find.

Council really needs to maintain this spot of local history. It's a shame it's all overgrown to what it was when I was a kid living near by
