Lakeside Gurkhas

I am just stepping out of the restaurant - I am compelled to write this review to a best of the best Nepalese restaurant in Canberra, and I'm still buzzing from the amazing food! Seriously, every bite was a flavor explosion. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed Nepalese cuisine this much.

Quick tip for the owner: If the waitstaff is rocked with traditional Nepalese attire, this place would be off the charts! It'd add such a cool vibe to an already awesome spot.

Overall, if you're in Canberra and craving authentic Nepalese flavors, this place is a must-visit. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. Can't wait to go back for more!😍

The food, atmosphere, and hospitality are really good. Very nice spot to enjoy the food served with authenticity.
The taste and presentation of food were great.
The quality of rice, however, was not up to the standard of the dishes that came in the thali set. It would have been really amazing if rice was better. I would recommend that the rice be changed.
Also, the smell of oil in gundruk could be an issue for some people just like me.
Overall, I really enjoyed the food and hope it gets better and the service is maintained.

This is the best Nepali restaurant in town - a must visit. We loved the atmosphere and the locality. The staffs were very friendly which made our experience even better. Momos were finger licking good and so was chicken chilli. We couldn’t get over the heavenly dessert - gajar ko haluwa. Will definitely visit again!

The food here was incredible. We visited on a Tuesday and were served really yummy dishes.
The service was a little slower than ideal...but that wouldn't stop me coming back. It may have been where we sat (outside) or just the timing...not a real issue tbh.
Many menu items to choose from and I look forward to trying more.
We tried the Napali beer, Mustang. Delicious.

Premium service with ambience atmosphere, nepalese vibe. Had one thali set and aalu nimkee more than enough for 2 people. Sound expensive but its worth it and huge portion. And cnt forget to add mango lassi and famous jeri. Thank you for service guys.

Went there for anniversary dinner with family. Great place with nice ambiance, astonishing view, and equally good service. Paneer kulcha and Butter chicken is a must try, okra curry and Chi Momo platter were great too. When they brought in their special dessert, Charcoal Gajar ko halwa cake, they topped it off with a anniversary jingle playing in the background, made us feel really special.

Very spacious seating arrangements, especially with kids with pram.

An absolute delight! I visited Lakeside Gurkhas today and i was amazed by its authentic Nepali flavours. From mouthwatering Sekuwa to Nepali Thali set every dish is a masterpiece. The ambiance is charming with a lake view. A must-visit for anyone craving authentic Nepali flavour in Canberra.

Food was excellent! Service is quick and staff are friendly. Not sure why I hadn’t been before but it’s for sure on my go-to list from now on.

What to talk about the food, the food was soooooo gooood. Great hospitality all the staff were very friendly( Gulshan, Pratkshya and the other staff I don’t know his name).

Me along with my partner and brothers were there for dinner. We ordered Nepalese 4 non-veg thali and 1 veg thali and Gorkha Aloo. Gorkha Aloo had a different flavour into which made it stand out.
Every bite of the food was worth the pay.

I guess the photo of our almost eaten food tells the story.... We got stuck into it before we could take a photo!

This was a terrific experience. Lovely wait staff, really tasty food, and a good location on the water. I highly recommend Lakeside Gurkhas to you all. And thank you to the staff!

Very good food and service. Value and taste both satisfying. Need to mention the kitchen made a nice arrangement for the item we want but not on the menu, appreciated. Service was great and caring.

A wonderful Nepalese restaurant. Incredible flavours, strongly recommend the Dirty Chili Buffalo Momos and Lollipop Chicken. A great bar too, had delicious Margaritas!

Exceptional service. Perfect location/ views. Large indoor seating options or outdoors with lake views.

First Nepali food experience. So many new flavours... it's all about the spices yum yum yum ☺.

While the serene location enhances the dining experience, there's a need for staff to emulate the manager's exemplary customer service. Nonetheless, the cozy ambiance makes it a notable haven for food enthusiasts. Must try the "Lamb Tawa"

We had an amazing experience at Lake Side Gurkhas celebrating our anniversary. The authentic Nepali food, including the Nepali thali set, chicken steam momo, chicken chowmein, chicken choila set, and bhutan set, was delicious and flavorful. The customer service was exceptional, and the ambience created a perfect setting for our celebration. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Nepali cuisine.

Never tasted Thali set like this before in Australia. Probably the best food and I'll recommend everyone to visit once.

Had a memorable experience having lunch @ lakeside gurkha. Has good lake view from the restaurant and the service was excellent, the taste and quality of food was mouth watering, one of the must visit place when travelling to Canberra… can’t wait to visit again..
