The staff did everything possible to make our cruise the best holiday ever. Absolutely beautiful scenery, delicious meals and a great captain!

Recently we went on waterfall cruise 3 2024. Loved the whole experience. The crew were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble to them. We became friends with fellow travellers and staff quickly due to the small number of passengers. The food was amazing and in abundance. Many thanks to our chef, Sam. Congratulations on a job well done. On land excursions were informative and varied. Mel and Jess went above and beyond looking after us. We even did yoga (at 6 a.m.) with Erle. Good start to the day. Many thanks to all for making this holiday memorable.

There are not strong enough words to state how great the Discovery One cruise was that we took in May 2023. All aspects were outstanding and far exceeded our expectations having read the brochures, calendars and various commentary over the few years we’ve been waiting to join the cruise.

All staff were outstanding in their professionalism, attention to detail and their absolute friendliness. They were never too busy for an interruption or chat.

The meals and snacks were excellent in both variety and quality; no one would have left the cruise lighter! It was great to have fresh salads and vegetables even towards the end of the cruise having not been resupplied enroute.

The scenery along the way is breath taking and the fact that Discovery One only travels during the day means you never miss any of it. It is quite mesmerising sitting on the deck watching the escarpment and rock formations pass by.

The other massive plus of Discovery One is the relatively small size of the vessel means that it is able to hug the coast and anchor always in protected waters.

The two or three trips off the boat in the tenders daily gave great access to some hidden swimming holes, reefs, appreciation and understanding of the huge tidal movements, aboriginal art and amazing rock formations. Not having to queue to "wait your turn" is another huge advantage of Discovery One; all passengers fit on the two tenders.

This cruise and company are highly recommended.

May/June was a wonderful time of year to explore the Kimberleys weather was calm and 30 degrees during the day. Pleasant in the evenings when sitting outside for dinner only needing a light shirt on over your tshirt. The daily cruises on the zodiac were lots of fun and we had a wonderful group of fellow travellers. We were lucky to have seen some spectacular waterfalls given that the wet season had so much rain. Our exploring and climbing up to safe swimming holes were sometimes challenging but we all helped each other very worthwhile swim at the top no crocs haha. My partner had dietary requirements that were met over and above our expectations meals were delicious. Crew were friendly and had a great sence of humour that just bounced off the passengers. We loved this escape into the Kimberleys and mostly that each night we were not cruising but stationary.
Enabling us to enjoy the beautiful settings with sunsets and sunrises that our photos tried to capture the magical colours.
Yes this is a wonderful holiday and part of our cruise was a heli flight and then small plane flight over the destinations we visited absolutely beautiful.

We were on cruise 11 July 2023. It was a great experience. The crew were fantastic. The activities were amazing. The food was sooooo good. There was not a meal served that was any less then great.
We would definitely recommend this trip if you wish to experience some of the Kimberley region. Thanks for a trip of a lifetime.

One of the most incredible experiences, made all the more special by the fabulously accommodating crew and helpful bookings team. You really get the family-owned feel onboard and the frequency of excursions off the boat far exceeds other cruises in the area. Would recommend to anyone looking to tick this one off the bucket list!

This has been entered for John Kelley who has said the following: I have been on many cruises from the Artic to the Antarctic and the two Discovery One cruises I have done in the Kimberley are some of the best ever. It is amazing scenery with great variety, plus there is a good deal of wildlife from seabirds through crocodiles to whales - all close up. The Skipper Lennie is informative, flexible and knowledgeable from his many, many years in the Kimberley and is simply just a good bloke. The rest of the staff are also friendly and very helpful. It is a delightful boat with only 22 people, like a big family. The food is beyond expectation. The two white tenders are great and look good in photos (not the normal black Zodiacs). Being two tenders you can usually get one in the photo if needed. The boat anchors overnight so always a good sleep (convinced my wife on this). I believe it is the best value for money for a Kimberley cruise and unique with Lennie. Do it while Lennie is still the skipper.

Captain Lennie with his wonderful Staff made each day very special with their knowledge of the Kimberley area made for a perfect cruise.

We were so very happy we chose Discovery One. Firstly, the crew were so friendly and could not do enough for us. Also there was only 22 passengers and ample room on the boat. As a result the atmosphere was friendly, casual and very relaxing.
We were lucky to have Lennie as our Captain and he could adapt our itinerary to the changing conditions. His knowledge of the Kimberley coast was exceptional, and he always put the safety of the passengers first.
Unlike some other cruises, the Discovery One was small enough to navigate up many of the tidal rivers. Being able to leave the boat on the two tenders for many sightseeing and onshore excursions was a real bonus. We swam in fresh water pools, visited several amazing Aboriginal art sites, wandered along white sandy beaches, travelled up small tidal creeks with towering cliffs either side and saw many spectacular sights that other cruises would not be able to experience.
The top deck of the boat included a spa, sunbeds and shade cloth and allowed for 360 degree views. The deck below was an airconditioned lounge with large windows to allow passengers to enjoy the sights. It also had a well-stocked bar!
We were very well fed by our amazing cook Tracy, who provided us with delicious food.
Jill in the office was highly efficient and kept us well informed prior to our departure. The crew was amazing – our thanks to Lennie – the best Captain ever; the wonderful, unflappable and witty Tamra; the lovely and caring Melissa; the terrific cook Tracy; the quiet, unassuming and efficient Elijah; and of course the ever dependable Adjat, who kept everything running.
The sights and experiences we had will stay with us forever.

We had such a fantastic time on our cruise in May 2014 that we sailed again in August 2018! Lenny, Tamra and the rest of the crew on both DiscoveryOne trips were unbelievable - nothing was a problem and they went out of their way to ensure that each and every one of their 22 guests was looked after like family. And the food - simply amazing!!! We chose DiscoveryOne because it was a small boat which traveled during daytime hours only and could cater for all guests at the one time when touring around in the zodiacs. Lenny's knowledge of the Kimberleys allowed us to explore the tiniest of waterways spotting crocs, ospreys, gropers, etc, swim in beautiful freshwater rockpools and under spectacular waterfalls, marvel at ancient aboriginal art and simply enjoy the beauty and magnificence that is the Kimberleys. If you are thinking of a Kimberley cruise you simply must go with DiscoveryOne - they are the best!! Thankyou Lenny, Tamra and all your crew for giving us our best holidays ever!!

We chose Discovery One for our Kimberley cruise based on friends’ recommendation and I have no hesitation passing on that recommendation. So many reasons! A huge one is the boat layout. Many other Kimberley cruise boats have limited outdoor access, especially those that have a helipad on the top deck. On Discovery One, the top deck is entirely open to passengers, complete with shade cloth, sunbeds and spa, so we spent most of our days and evenings with 360º views of the glorious surrounds. All the indoor areas have full-sized picture windows throughout so you’re never far from those views for those that prefer some aircon!

The cruise starts and finishes at different locations than other companies, with a sea plane transfer at one end. This means starting and leaving the boat right there in the incredible archipelago, not having to spend a day cruising to get there from port along less interesting coastline.

The crew are incredible - Captain Lennie and his right hand cruise director Tamra are awesome and go out of their way to make everyone’s trip special. Nothing is too much trouble - even when I left a special gift in our hotel in Kununurra - not a problem, Tamra arranged for it to be collected and delivered to the ship with the pre-cruise food drop off!

Talking about food! Oh my, Tracey was amazing and plied us with volumes of superb food throughout each day. Plan to put on a couple of kilos!!

And talking about planning, we are hoping to be back on Discovery One one day! Every cruise is different and Lennie arranges the program daily to maximise the number of excursions and beautiful things to see and explore. The small number of passengers was ideal for us and the crew were hard working and amazing. Altogether one of the more affordable cruises and huge bang for your buck!

GREAT HOLIDAY !!!!!
Only 22 passengers --Like one big family. Very professional and friendly crew. Very casual. Captain Lennie knows all the places to visit. Anchors up at night so you do not miss any of the magnificent sights and coastline. Two tenders to take all passengers on excursions at once. Excursions are never rushed. Also great Food.
Truly a value for money holiday. Been twice and about to book for another fantastic holiday

After we did the small plane scenic flight from Derby to the Mitchell Plateau, transferred to a helicopter for a flight over the Mitchell Falls, then over the escarpment to land on a pristine white sand beach, we transferred to a zodiac to go out to the ship. I said to the other passengers,"Wow! How fantastic was that! You couldn't get better than that. It's going to be all downhill after this." Little did I know that each day was going to be even better than the day before. This Kimberley experience should be on everyone's bucket list - and no better way to do it than with Discovery One.

This was the best holiday my wife and I have ever had, the crew were magnificent, nothing was too much trouble right from Lenny down.
The scenery is just something else and Lenny knows the Kimberly like the back of his hand, he took us to places you would never go to in any other boat. We cannot express our gratitude to Kimberly Cruises enough. We are completely happy customers and given the oportunnity will come back.

I would class Discovery One cruising as the best holiday I have ever had.Who needs to go overseas when you have the last Frontier, the Kimberley region to explore on a boat with Lennie the Captain with his expertise and a wonderful crew to look after you down to the most minute details. It ticks all the boxes.

Toward the end of our Cruise (No 8, June 2017) I inquired of Captain Lennie as to who owned "Discovery One". He told me the person's name and the general area of where he resided in the Eastern States. I then asked if he saw much of the owner. Lennie replied he had not seen him since 2006 but two or three times a year they talk on the phone.
Could there be a better recommendation than that?

The Kimberley.
You need to see it to believe it. No pictures or words can explain its beauty.
Discovery One the Crew family & the lifelong friends you make are all part of the journey. There is never a dull moment unless you want it. Everyone is treated so very special nothing is too hard. We will be back.

Hi
We cruised the Kimberley coast on Discovery One Cruise 3 - 2024 Wyndham to Derby. We had been on a previous cruise in August 2015, Derby to Derby. We saw lots of whales but only a couple of waterfalls so always thought we should do an early cruise to see the waterfalls. Well we certainly were not disappointed. From top to bottom, we enjoyed the whole experience, the waterfalls, the company, the food, the scenics in the Zodiacs and the card games Special thanks for the efforts of the skippers and crew to make sure they could show us as much of the Kimberly as they could, bearing in mind, the tides and the one direction of travel.
We recommend Discovery One Cruises to all aspiring Kimberly visitors
