If you're a walker passing the hut, it is locked and there are no public access facilities. There are no water for passers by as the hut uses tank water only. Its close to some local roads and offers a peaceful spot to rest a while. Its windy up there and cool weather can be experienced overnight at anytime of the year.

This is a great spot to spend a couple of night with your mates! It is surrounded only by nature and hiking trails, in winter when the trees are less dense you get a decent view on the city

This is a great little place to stay for a few nights, it can be a little close quarters with a big group but otherwise is comfortable. The water is rainwater so make sure you boil up some clean water when you arrive and put it in some bottles to cool if you want a cold drink later. It can get really cold during the nights also so bring warm clothing with you.
It can be a bit tricky to find the gate when you come in the first time but once you get there it's a really nice peaceful spot and about a 10 min walk to the summit of Mount Lofty.
