We stopped by for our first time, looking for a knock off drink after work on a Friday night. We were happy to stay for one, but stayed for three. Want a relaxed place to go for Friday night drinks? Bertha Brown is the the place to go. Thankfully, it is not too crowded, but considering what it offers I don't think that will last for long.

The front area features a relaxing couch arrangement. An uncluttered warehouse brick wall lines the many booths. The staff are friendly and attentive, and collect glasses from the tables. The kitchen offers snacks and meals for those who wish for something more fulfilling.

The space has an uncluttered warehouse feel and is very inviting. The door staff are rather nice as are the service staff. We moved out the back, as the front got a bit noisy sitting under the speakers at the front. Large groups gather out back. Bring your lap top and do your own thing (not sure if they have wi-fi). The crowd was quite diverse and relaxed.

Bertha Brown is divided into many zones, there really is a place for everyone. My friend commented that she would like to make this place our regular for a couple of drinks after a Friday night work week.

Sitting in this bar makes you feel at though you are sitting in a well decorated lounge room. Though it was our first time there, we will be back again as it give use an old style warmth that we enjoy. From a back window we could see a TV playing sports in a venue next door and we said, "Let's never go there." There are no TV's at Bertha's.

There were many little zones for the individual, small groups, or large groups. Being a boy I was not privy to seeing inside the ladies area, but I was told they had aeroplane seats as part of a ladies lounge. In all the toilets were great, with music piped in and very clean.

It would be great to find out more about this old building. The only bad thing is that they could turn their music down a little, especially on a Friday evening as some need a little peace after a hard week, just for a couple of hours then we get warmed up.

Didn't get to try their menu, but saw lots of people going into a big bowl of chips. There menu states they do mainly Mediterranean fare (which is a bit boring in general), but do service platers for events Their take away has great photos, but the menu is so poorly written that I would be looking for punctuation rather than a meal. Visuals are nice, but the words let it down, as does any detail about what they actually offer. With a menu like this, you would give the kitchen a miss. Was the brochure a VCE assignment?

Friday after work drinks are the way to go. I hope it doesn't get too busy, as it fine the way it is.

Happy hour:
$12 jugs of Boags.
$5 white wine.

I let a bar tender talk me into the more expensive wine, never again. He didn't even tell me it was happy hour until I saw it on the blackboard. No place is perfect, something, little does that mattered in the overall concept of the establishment.
