Great location and relaxing outdoor terrace dining at the top of Collins St. Reuben sandwich must be one of the best in Melbourne Quality ingredients and condiments which go very well with fries. Service is attentive. The breakfast menu is worth a try as well.

Went here for a quick bite at lunch, nice venue with old styling. Had the gnocchi, portion of chips and chicken roll, no complaints, everything was cooked to perfection. The food is on the pricey side for a quick lunch but can understand why with the quality of the venue, wait staff and chefs. Plenty of intimate seating inside (some booth style options) and outside.

I've been back few times to this place before, but never got a chance to try their famous Reuben Sandwich. Finally I gave it ago and it was so delicious. This place is great to have a quick dinner before a movie night at Kino. I love their coffee too. My favourite dish from the menu is always gonna be the sardines. If you've got a sweet tooth, don't forget to try the brownie. Looking forward to come back to try other dish on the menu

Brilliant Breaky. Lovely breakfast, served by a gorgeous waitress. Great experience. Very nice coffee. Cold day so we sat outside next a heater and had a great experience.

Lovely atmosphere. Coffee Lovely, just a little low tide cup fullness wise. Love m6 coffee and relish every last drop so a full cup is important to me.

Dined here for a Monday breakfast, ordered the chorizo polenta which was delicious and should become a staple on any cafes menu. Food was excellent, service attentive and coffee good. Good spot in the CBD, look forward to dining here again.

Menu looked a little uninspiring, but food that came out was really nice! Can recommend Friendly devilled eggs. Friendly staff.

Great coffee. I enjoyed the comfortable outdoor table. I had the egg and bacon breakfast roll and was very satisfied with it. Could not ask for better. Good service

The Melbourne breakfast scene needs more cafes like Pope Joan.

It’s increasingly hard to find a good, well cooked breakfast that doesn’t rely on stupid gimmicks or dump a truckload of gratuitous ingredients and flower petals on top to distract from the poorly-executed basics underneath. Thank god this place knows what really matters: Produce, flavour and soldiers to dip into perfectly runny eggs.

Pope Joan is a consistently brilliant option for delicious breakfast. The service is warm and the interior feels comfortable. I love the portraits of the ducks!

We had a delightful experience at Pope Joan’s yesterday. After unsuccessfully trying to find somewhere to eat in Fed Square, we ended up here and so glad we did. The service was impeccable, the menu had plenty of options - allowing you to spend a little or a lot. We both had the pita with ratatouille & hummus & it was delicious. The ambiance was great- jazzy music played in the background & the place looks good with leather booths, white tablecloths & greenery around.

Gorgeous setting, delicious food and impeccable service. The kitchen staff even cut up my dish so i could eat it with one hand due to being injured. Very sweet!

Went with a darling friend at lunch, as he recommended. Wish I had the Reuben, but I hit it lucky with the Cornish. Yummy and very generous. Such great service, I got a goody bag to go. And we did the Salt & Four Pillars gin vinegar crisps. Such a surprise. Great coffee as well.

Had a delicious brekky here, very chic, great coffee. Hidden in the valet parking courtyard of The Sofitel Hotel, indoor & outdoor dining. Open lunch and dinner, not open weekends during the day, so check times.

First visit. Great meal, lovely ambiance, and attentive staffs. Perfect for couples on a date, or small groups. Must try Reuben, Mixed plate, Gnocchi. Loved it. Dishes arrived at a decent pace. It certainly deserved another visit!

You can totally tell that the owner has put alot of heart into this place and you often see him around getting stuck in Without the arrogance of many similar places in the locality.

Undoubtedly best long black coffee in Melbourne with service overseen by Leah. Try the Friday Champagne Gosset special - a delightful way to end the working week.

If you want an ol school Katz deli Reuben overflowing with moist pastrami, drowning in Russian dressing and mustard this possibly isn't the place for you.

Same for if you only want massively spiced dry pastrami and sauerkraut on a dark rye (normally my thing)

If however you're open to the idea of your Reuben suiting up, sitting down and sipping a fine sav blanc or a red ale and being a modern and classy version of itself.

Then I have two words. Smoked mozzarella (scamorza) . When you first see it as one of the ingredients you might wonder how it works and or why it's there but then...

Pope Joan has ALWAYS done amazing meat with a very distinct character to it and this sandwich is subtle but beautifully, perfectly balanced. The sauerkraut is only lightly sour but clean, the multi grain similar both having their flavours BUT definitely being background in this sandwich but the smoked moz is in my opinion what links all of this particularly in the place of a sweet and rich Russian dressing (which would have overwhelmed all the ingredients)

It pairs really well with every other ingredient and carries their flavour whilst letting the subtle , clean but DEFINITELY spiced, lightly sweet and moist pastrami shine.

This is pastrami done wilkinson style and he knows EXACTLY what he wants the results to be and he gets them.

I'm almost NEVER a fan of subtle in pastrami but it doesn't surprise me that pope Joan would be the one to change my mind.

One of the best things I've eaten for a long, long while.

And I'm gonna be back to have the bacon and egg sandwich.

Pssst is it too much to hope that you'll be making those amazing Cumberland sausages again one day?

Great meal friendly service. The happy hour drinks are very enjoyable and prompt service offering both a drink and something to nibble mean you will not want to leave. The main meals were very tasty and well presented. The deserts were Devine!
