New Gold Mountain

A really good venue for slightly unusual cocktails with friends or just as a couple... The bar staff really know their Australian based liquor and even made cocktails based upon our preferences (didn't have to just stick to the menu). Everyone loved the atmosphere, great for talking and sipping excellent cocktails. Have bene a few times and the new people I took there loved it.

We always love our visits to NGM. The drinks are delicious! We enjoy trying something new on the menu, as well as returning to our old favourites. The bar staff are skilled and knowledgable, and we feel valued when they bring us our drinks and spend a moment to explain the ingredients. (I won't go on and on about how amazing the Venue Manager is, because she may or may not be related to us..... but she does have 'a wonderful presence', 'clearly enjoys her job' and is 'in her element' - quoting the friends with us on our last visit.)

Loved her cocktails- the vegemite cocktail was her invention! She’s willing to go above and beyond with the most rogue and vague requests imaginable and present something that is just beautiful!

This is our new favourite bar. We stumbled across here one Thursday and Lloyd the bartender was so down to earth and fun. We now come here every week because we love the vibe and the music.

I came across this bar by chance. Lloyd was super welcoming and accommodating and ever since that visit my friend and I have made weekly visits.

There's just something about New Gold Mountain I just love, not sure if its the rickety stairs, the welcoming staff, the fabulous cocktails, the nooks and crannies or the fact that this place is always open when most places are closed, and we have nowhere decent to go after a late night. I've been here twice, and every experience has been great, I have been mostly intoxicated from previous establishments but the vibe here is chill and moody and just brings me down a notch. When you're over the eyerolling pretentiousness Melbourne seems to bring lately this is the place to go! This is the best place for cozy dates, groups who want to mind their own business and singles who want a quiet drink at the bar. Love love love!

Hidden gem, open until 4:30am, native ingredient negroni, knowledgeable and friendly bartenders. What’s not to like.

This is an absolute treasure of a place!! The cocktails are beautiful and super unique. The bar staff are incredibly knowledgeable, passionate and friendly. The atmosphere is lovely, great tunes, mood lighting - ideal for a first or second date.
Everything is Australian sourced so it makes you feel great about supporting not just this business, but their suppliers as well!

Came here a couple weeks ago on my trip to Melbourne and thought I’d leave a review. Such an amazing bar, and definitely a nod in the right direction towards cultural appreciation and spectacular drinks and service to match. Educational insight to the bars theme, background and inspiration. Small and tucked away, I love it!

Quiet and cosy little spot. Had the High Tide which was tasty. Good place for a chat with a mate or two. The bartenders were very friendly and welcoming.

I wish I knew the name of our bartender... The pride they took in their work was palpable, and the service was impeccable... Not to mention the drinks💙
Start with a "pay my tuition" for one of the most unique, refreshing cocktails ever, with a surprise.
Then I ordered a "Night at the Ascot", and I was immediately taken with the aroma and complexity of this drink (if you like an Old Fashioned, you'll love what they do with this)

Little hidden find with a cosy atmosphere and such friendly bar staff! They have a great focus towards native ingredients and spirits, and took time to explain the cocktail menu to us. Definitely a regular drink spot for me and my friends now!

Great vibe and signature cocktails with Australian products! Josh (the owner) and Kia were some of the most passionate hospitality professionals I know.

Loving coming back to an old favourite. Josh and Co have a fantastic local drink philosophy, nailing great cocktails. And still the same old, ideal, secret Melbourne laneway venue, that’s a gem to discover.

Amazing cosy atmosphere, it's never been crowded when I've been here, the staff are really friendly and helpful, and the cocktails in particular are fantastic. Wine list is quite good, as is their selection of gin. Highly recommend this spot for an intimate date night or a close group to share some beautiful drinks. I really can't overstate how nice the atmosphere is here; even the selection of music is very tasteful.
