Werribee Mercy Hospital is one of the best Multi speciality hospitals in the west. Usually not long wait in the outdoor patient clinic with appointments. Well qualified doctors and friendly staff.

A BIG Thank you to the staff at the outpatients clinic, and to the GI doctor, Dr Arachchi.
I know it's extremely busy, as I have had a recent outpatient experience myself. Even through these extremely busy times, the lovely staff take time to assist.

Amazing to find such a good public hospital and it's all down to the great staff! They are friendly and really care about getting you a great outcome. As it is public they are very busy so sometimes there is a wait but other than that I'm very grateful to have this hospital as my local

Out patient Clinic
Very very busy place. Alot of staff, but they appear to be standing around chatting about their social life. I have been here several times in the last 12 months and noticed the same every single time. There is a complacency about the place, and nothing gets done until staff are good and ready. Despite all of this, the staff are lovely and friendly. My appointment was nearly an hour later than scheduled time. Other patients in the waiting room clearly display agitation at waiting longer than their appointment times also.
Waiting room was quite full all the time and patients were being called who clearly weren't even in the waiting room.
Overall it seems to be the norm these days with medical services.

I normally would not have shared a one off bad experience of a clinic that has largely been really good to me during my pregnancy but this has been the second consecutive instance in while I have been left distressed after attending the Werribee mercy outpatients clinic so i think it’s important the hospital knows. When I attended the clinic at my 32 weeks appointment the midwife had a student in the room and did not bother to ask me for my consent if I was ok with a student being a part of the appointment, I think this should be an important step given the sensitivity of a pregnancy. Twice during the appointment I was left alone with the student (after the midwife had shared some concerns with us thus we were already stressed), the first time the student was trying to convince me to follow my pregnancy and the second time was left to fumble around taking my blood pressure. When I was on the bed the midwife proceeded to start teaching the student while included both of them prodding at me without even asking first and then going into details about concerns they could have about my pregnancy which left me very distressed while leaving.

Today thanks to a bad reception experience at the imed radiology in the hospital I had to go back to the clinic after an appointment to get them to alter the referral. The receptionist proceeded to literally start shouting at my cause the referral did not have a sticker on it, keep in mind I had just before gotten stickers printed from them because they were over over the course of my pregnancy and was running around trying to book the ultrasound scan before. I understand the need for the sticker but she could’ve asked me for my details instead of just shouting. After that she anyways called a midwife and said I can’t help you explain your entire situation to her. Thankfully the midwife was a lovely lady but keep in mind I was already in tears at that point as it had been over an hour of just being spoken to rudely by multiple people who are meant to be taking care of a very vulnerable group of people.

I've had multiple unpleasant experiences at this hospital. I've been receiving care for maternity, and the quality of some, not all of the obstetricians and endocrinologists is suboptimal compared to Sunshine. The Iranian obstetrician said that coming to this hospital (she has a private practice) is like doing charity work for her. Another obstetrician scared the living day lights out of me and told me that my baby had down syndrome when she did not. Most of the doctors cannot even communicate properly in English. The endocrinologists solution to everything is to take insulin, rather than trying to help find other ways to manage blood sugar levels. The obstetricians tell you they will call you back, and then don't. You chase them for results or answers. I would not recommend choosing this hospital. Sunshine are much better. The only good thing about Werribee are the midwives who work harder than most of these doctors. The best obstetrician is Dr Van Dam but she is hard to get an appointment with as she's in the specialist clinic. It's really disappointing to have to write such a negative review.

Don't book anything else if you have an appointment with them. The wait times are blown out and they expect you to come in 15 minutes early for your appointment but make you wait more than an hour. The screen doesn't even reflect the accurate wait time. Try to schedule in an early apointment or a very late appointment so you don't waste time sitting here.

Dr was supposed to call at 9:40 am, nearly 2 hours later, still no call. phone consultation is a complete and utter waste of time if they never call

I do have endocrinology appointment at 11:40am.
I was already in a work meeting, when I mentioned that my appointment is on 11:40 am , the on call lady mentioned they are running little early either , I talked to them now or reschedule, I asked them to reschedule, she mentioned no we will talk now as it will take 2 minutes .
There is no harm in 2 minute talking but the way it all happen was very rude. Also when patients cannot make appointment on time and are late and then clinics not able to adjust.
Was very rude experience.

This hospital is not professional..I gave my referral letter to the outpatient clinic last month, and wait for them to call me..and I called them this morning and they said I’m not in their system and they are full capacity for my due on the end of May.. Now I have to go back to my GP for new referral letter and find another hospital again..
