Cooya Beach Takeaway

The Flying Mackerel is definitely a must go in the Port Douglas area if you want true fish and chips experience. We had many tried many fish and chips in Queensland but wanted to do a takeaway / sit outside kinda shop and found this little little gem via Google Map. The owner Roberto is super friendly and knowledgeable about his food and the neighborhood. Highlight was the deep fried coral trout which we had never experienced before. The Spanish whiting fish in the fish and chips was firm and meaty and a true beauty. We were also fortunate to visit during midweek outside holiday season and got to chat to Roberto much more which was fun. Enjoy your quiet life down under Roberto!

While you heading to DainTree Forest you should absolutely come here and try the Coral Trout or Mackrell, chips and fish cake... Simply Poetry 🤩

From origin italian owner is so friendly with heaps of knowledge of the area and the care he takes in preparing the fish and chips is definitely something you notice in the taste! It was super yummy! Best one in the whole area!

Really great to see a good fish and chip shop back in the district. Coming back to FNQ it is so great to be able to have a great piece of fresh Spanish mackerel and chips. Love to visit again and try the paella as well as another helping of fish and chips!

This place is simply amazing. Roberto is a fantastic cook and I HIGHLY recommend the onion rings! If you are anywhere near Cooya Beach, you have to try this place out.

Good fresh home cooked food such as fish, chips, burgers, pizza and more. Daily specials and roast on Sundays. Close to the beach so ideal for a sea side lunch or dinner.

The pizzas on Sunday and Monday are so good! Thin crust, super tasty and well priced. Made right in front of you, and by a legit Italian too!

Roberto does a mean fish and chips. He was super friendly and offered us tips on places to see and where to find crocs. He makes this place a winner.

A hidden fish and chips shop near the beach. Awesome friendly guy who runs the shop and he even had Dutch croquettes (a slow cooked brisket beef croquettes) which I totally didn't expect our here.

Best fish around and lovely owner. Definitely must try when you're in the area.
