We had dinner at Masala on the 1st of the year. The owner is an absolute gem, how kind you are. I had some dietary requirements and he did his best to try accommodate it. Staff was very nice, the food was delicious, from the naan bread to the coconut rice, as well as the mango butter chicken and the lentil Dahl.

Thank you! Will return!

If I could I would kiss the chef. I swear they must use magic to make the food taste this good.

That’s twice I have eaten here, and both meals have been the best Indian food I have ever tasted, and some of the best food I have ever tasted in my life.

I’ve tried the Butter Chicken and the Goat Curry, and as soon as the food was bought out in front of me I start to salivate because the smell of the spices is so delicious!!! 😋

It’s the sort of food that you just want to take your time eating as each mouthful is a flavour sensation that just lingers on your taste buds.

This isn’t just food it’s made with love and care and is the perfect place to take your family and friends to enjoy a wonderful meal together.

I will certainly be back next time I visit Townsville.
My compliments to the chef and staff. 🙏👍❤

4 years ago we stumbled across Masala and fell in love with the food. We had to return when we visited Townsville, the food was AMAZING! The service is so great, the new restaurant is stunning. Well worth the trip and we will 1000% be back! We think this place serves the BEST INDIAN IN AUSTRALIA! 😍

We found this absolutely fantabulous Indian restaurant in Townsville...the most gorgeous setting with the wonderful Chetan looking after us... you must come here when you are in Townsville! The dinner was delicious we ordered 3 meals with a coconut rice and garlic naan bread price was only 70-80 bucks and ordered 3 Heineken beers @9.50 each. Honestly the loveliest Indian food we've had in a long time...we plan on making this our outing as the setting is magnificent with the wonderful Townsville balmy weather so you can sit outside which is my preferred. Thankyou again Masala and Chetan for a most remembered evening.

In early January we enjoyed evening Al fresco. The Goan Fish Curry was sensational. View of Castle Hill & "Sugar Shaker" & Fairy lights on palm trees delightful. Hope the palms survived last night's uninvited visit from Kirrily & I hope you're back in business again ASAP post cyclone. All the best & reiterate still early & after traumatic weather event. Happy Australia Day & a Happy & successful New Year

Sensational, I’d walked past this place on my previous trips to Townsville and was glad I finally stopped in. I was quickly attended to and shown a table i my arrival and asked for a recommendation based on some meals I enjoyed on a previous trip to India. I opted for the Kadhai Chicken, med to hot, with some naan bread and it was excellent. The owned checked I was enjoying my meal and I assured him without doubt on my future trips I’d be back. Can’t speak highly enough of the food and my experience.

A very very reasonably priced restaurant serving excellent authentic Indian food. My goat curry was next to perfection. I would put it down as a “must do” in Townsville

The staff were so friendly that I started to enjoy myself before the beautiful food arrived. I had onion bhaji for entree - it was perfect. Then mild butter chicken and coconut rice. I wanted to finish it but I just couldn’t fit it in. I highly recommend

Delicious food and five-star service.

I’m lactose intolerant which makes dining a bit tricky at times. I love a good curry, though and that’s what Masala Indian Cuisine was able to provide during my short trip to Townsville.

Home-style is how I would describe their curries. The staff are very attentive to requests and will give you time to enjoy your dining experience. I will be back next time I’m in Townsville.

I've not had a good run with Indian food, never lived up to expectations. Masala changed that. So much, I hit the place twice on a recent work trip. First night in, ordered Samosa for entree, Chicken Tikka for main mild spicy (test) and coconut rice with Naan. Expecting three small samosas and out come these pear sized Samosas, golden brown bags of flavour with a sauce that just made them even better. I would have been satisfied with just one if I had known how big they were. Smashed them down, five minutes later, the main hit. Wow!. Two breakfast bowl size pots filled to the brim with spicy goodness, Tried both separately then set to work. So much food, I thought I had smashed it, then found I still had huge chunks of chook in the bowl that I mistook for vegetables. I hate wasting food so took one for team tummy and left the last small piece of Naan, which is just carbs right and knocked off the last of the chicken and rice. Too good, entire meal sixty bucks with a couple of GnT's. Next visit was Seek Kebap, Rice, Papadum and Kadhai Chook. The Kebap arrived with a nice creamy sauce, while flavorsome, it was a touch dry, the meat seemed to have been ground too fine and the mouth feel was a bit grainy and meh. Six chunks equal to a burger pattie, too much, I ate four so as not to mess up the main. I won't do these again for the reasons mentioned. Opted for Papadum this time and tut came the Kadhia Chicken with plain rice which was steamed to perfection, light, fluffy and flavorsome.
The Kadhia like the Tikka was a bowl of spiced goodness, just smelling it got me drooling and it delivered in spades. The Raita elevated it to another level, just top stuff.
The massive servings can easily feed two people, so take this into consideration when dining, if not alone, I would go two shared entrees then a main between two with rice and Naan. This leaves room for the most important food group in the pyramid "Dessert". Round two cost seventy bucks due to extra GnT's. I believe the entree sizes could be reduced by a third and still be value for money. This ensures plenty of space in the tank for the main meal and increases potential for dessert orders.
About the Gin, please lose the Gordon's its just bearable if there's no other options. There are at least four brands of Gin distilled nearby an hour up the road that are far more worthy of being on the shelf and those same makers produce local whisky and rum. So my friends, if your looking for somewhere to get a top notch feed of Indian in Townsville and your on or near Palmer Street, you know what you gotta do, just do it!

In Townsville for a week on business, had dinner here on my first night, and went back every night for dinner, the food is fabulous and the staff are friendly and professional, they had vegan opinions and were very accommodating when I requested a few additional ingredients to my meal, I will be back next time I am in Townsville, I highly recommend Masala to anyone, if you live in or near Townsville this place is a must visit once a week five gold stars.

There were two of us and we ordered butter chicken, channa masala, cheese & spinach Naan, 2 garlic naan, and rice.

Zero complaints at all. Everything was outstanding. We cook and eat alot of Indian food and would definitely recommend this place. If I wanted Indian again in Townsville I would go straight back here and not try anywhere else.

Naans were a very good size too and delicious.

Great authentic Indian cuisine.
I read the review prior to mine and I am just not even going to try and compare with Adam Bolts linguistic artistic ability to paint the portrait of how exceptionally flavoursome this food was.
Just know that I thought it was good too. Lol
Butter Chicken and Lamb Korma. Plain Naan.
All delicious and worth the visit to Masala Indian Cuisine.

The food is excellent, our favourite dish is the Butter Chicken (hot). We always ask for the dishes to be hot as that really lifts them. Love coming here.

Fantastic food and service. I asked for a super spicy beef dish, told them not to shy away from the heat and "impress me". They gave me "HEAT LEVEL x 4", which was absolutely perfect. Most restaurants give you spicy food that barely tingles your tongue, but this particular restaurant was 10/10 spot on.

I also enjoyed the food so much that I kept ordering more, they kept an eye on me incase my drink was gone and they indeed filled everything up without having to get up & ask for more.

Superb experience, spending money at this place is irrelevant because the experience of exquisite food will take you on a journey that is priceless.
