Great spot for aviation enthusiasts and history buffs alike! The Queensland Air Museum offers a unique glimpse into the aircraft used during the 20th-century wars, with a focus on planes and helicopters. Though not the largest museum, it provides an intimate experience where you can explore at your own pace.

Being able to see inside four airplanes is a special treat. Perfect for those seeking something different for their weekend activities.

We brought our 7-year-old daughter along, and she found it fascinating. Highly recommended for a family day out or anyone interested in aviation history!

This is well worth a visit. I spent a good three hours here. the collection of commercial and military aircraft is excellent. Every piece of equipment has a story and history attached to it. The volunteers who run the guided tours are in the main Pilots or have served in the aviation history. The day my wife and I visited we had the pleasure of a personal guided tour by a retired Qantas Captain who flew 747s for 35 years or so and the last six years A380s. His knowledge was priceless. The entry fees are very affordable, if anything inexpensive for the detailed experience. We are retired couple and our entry fee was $18 each, not much more if you are not. Attached is a small sample of what is available to see.

Very important part of our aviation history. We visited with our car club and were treated to a guided tour. I was saddened to learn that these guy's are all volunteers and get no state or federal government funding or support. The efforts that go into the displays are amazing. Highly recommend a visit to museum.

We came for the planes, trains and automobiles day and it was excelent. Surprisingly a large turn out. The staff are so nice and keen to offer their knowledge. Enjoyed my visit and would recommend to anyone including kid's. F11 on display is a highlight for a Brisbaner who loves river fire.

Awesome collection of aviation history, including a recently retired F111! As an aviation geek, I loved it, but my family also really enjoyed it. The Mig-15 was a cool surprise to see as well.

Great work by the volunteers who help to maintain the collection.

This is a great museum with lots of experiences such as the Boeing 737-800 simulator, (to experience this you must be over the age of 14). And an experience on Microsoft Flight Simulator, (you must be over the age of 13 to experience this).
When you first come in, on top of the entrance inside, the will be the Qantas logo evolution, near the counter, there is plane models, aviator glasses and more.
Inside, you also have a F 1-11 parked inside, and above you, there will be small turboprops, also inside there are plane models on display.
Once you go outside, there will be a speaker which is playing Live Air Traffic Control from Brisbane Airport, (I don’t know which comms).
Then you have many planes like an old Swearingen Metroliner, and the hangar is the biggest part of the museum, including an old Australian DC3.

Best airplane museum we have ever been to - they have a HUGE amount of airplanes - everyone that works there has a HUGE knowledge of planes and they all want to show them off - the souvenir shop is great and very affordable - the displays are massive and varied and really show off Australia’s history - big kids and small kids will love this place

I visited the Caloundra Air Museum whilst visiting Australia in August. The purpose of my visit was to see the P3 Orion that my father had flown on exchange with the RAAF in the 1980’s. My brother and I were guided around the museum by the wonderful Noel. It was meant to be a quick visit that ended up lasting a few hours. The professionalism, experience and wealth of knowledge that Noel had about the aircraft in the museum, having flown in the Navy and then commercially himself was very insightful, but it was his enthusiasm and kindness that made our visit to the museum so special! Thanks for a great day out.

Went to this Museum yesterday. It was absolutely fantastic, the volunteers were very friendly and extremely helpful. Would recommend to anyone visiting the Sunshine coast. Was only going to go for half an hour or so but ended up spending much longer. Surprised and happy to see a MIG 15 in the collection too. I'd love to come back when they finish the spitfire

A fantastic collection of over 80 military and civilian aircraft.

Knowledgeable and passionate volunteers run this place and do a great job.

An enthusiast could spend hours here but this museum would be enjoyed by a wide range of people. We spent 3 hours and loved it.

Highly recommended 👌🏼

Fantastic place and we were lucky enough to have a volunteer come and help show us around and give us some amazing history on the aircraft and just how the place in general operates.

Even managed to take us into a few that were off limits unless you had someone from the place with you. Didn't rush us, let the kids sit in the seats etc... Can't speak highly enough, well worth every cent

Spent a few hours there and didn't see it all. Amazing displays. I'll happily pay again when I have half a day free.

Great place to visit to learn about Australian aviation. With 90 different aircraft on display to examine, and being able to go inside the aircraft, good signage and literature and some very knowledgeable guides, some who even flew these amazing aircraft. Definitely a worthy place to visit. The children will love it.

Amazing place, so much to see you can really make a day of it, very well priced. Wheelchair accessible and accepts companion cards. Indoor and outdoor displays with extremely friendly staff who were offering free tours, I was shocked to find out all the staff were volunteers with no governmental support. Definitely worth a look.

I'm a secret aviation enthusiast. I admire the dedication of aviators past, present and future. I especially admire the volunteers who support this facility but hope that one day soon someone could come to the aid, financially, of this establishment, to preserve Australia's proud aviation history.
My favorite has got to be the Ventura bomber, flown by both Aussie and Kiwi pilots in WW2, to think it was salvaged from being a chicken coop on a farm...

Friendly, respectful, dedicated and knowledgeable staffs. Kid friendly facility. Each aircraft has its own description plaque.

Had a great afternoon here, went on an Open Cockpit day, it was great fun looking at the old aircraft and actually getting inside some of them.
There are plenty of aircraft to see here and it is one of the largest air museums in the Southern Hemisphere.
The family deal is good $$ value.
There is food available to buy, and a seated area to eat if you byo lunch.
The volunteer staff were very helpful and provided interesting information about the aircraft.
A fun afternoon even if you aren't into aircraft that much.

This museum is awesome and the Volunteers (Ladies and Gentlemen ) are all very knowledgeable. It brought back memories as a 9year old on my first flight in a DC3 IN 1960 from Roma to Brisbane or Gold Coast not sure. This Saturday will be awesome with engine stars, and Guest speakers from Women in Aviation don't miss this.
