Destination Adventure Magnetic Island

I have experienced many of the Destination Adventure events including The Great Island Trek and Bay to Base walks. These events that take place on Magnetic Island provide magical scenery, there is a wonderful sense of fun and camaraderie and the walks are organised and run to perfection. I can 100% recommend adding a Destination Adventure event to your bucket list! You’ll even see koalas along the way!

Daina and her team run amazing events and opportunities for people from all walks of life. The walks, bike rides and other events are enjoyed by many from Townsville and surrounds. As a participant and volunteer it is always encouraging to see how everyone is smiling and enjoying the inclusive events. Thoroughly recommend the events organised by Destination Adventure on the beautiful Magnetic Island.

Awestruck to have completed my first Bay to Base event at Magnetic Island, Queensland, Australia with Destination Adventures in April 2023!
Day before the event… The excitement was building as the tickets for the event, barge and accommodation were all booked early. The arrival process on Magnetic Island and registration for the event on the deck overlooking the ocean was seamless. A warm hug by the organiser Daina and we immediately felt welcome. We met up with friends with our event ticket number in one hand and a quiet drink in the other as we watched the sunset and listened to the background music. Cool and chilled vibes.
Day of the event… watching the sunrise and meeting at Nelly Bay Ferry Terminal. I recall the scent of roasted coffee beans! Everyone was buzzing and mingling with friends all sporting their coloured ticket numbers on their shirts and water hydration packs. The coloured tickets resembled the event and wave of your nomination.
The start line… it was a sea of people at the Bay! As we were taking photos of the glorious morning, the participants for the first wave were grouping and making their start. Next was our turn, the feeling of excitement and nerves rolled into one. Daina was full of information, praise for her team of volunteers and sponsors and presented in a witty and comical way, always with a laugh! The important information was relayed by a megaphone, the takeaway ‘no farting at cars’ (lol) and taking a snap of the course map.
During the event… Such a well organised event. All the volunteers ensured we were all on track. The photographer caught our best side on numerous occasions. The trail was challenging but the views of Magnetic Island are magnificent. Take your breath away… magnificent. So many photo opportunities along the way, we were even lucky enough for two koala sightings. There was respect on the track from the participants and a sense of camaraderie. The hydration and food stations were in accessible locations. Feeling blessed for the rest stop with ice cold water refill, sweet watermelon, bananas, and lolly bags.
The finish line… The overwhelming sense of accomplishment was amazing. We did it, we crossed the line reminding us “It’s not a race. It’s an adventure”. I was greeted by my family and presented with a Bay to Base t-shirt by more volunteers. The music was pumping, and drinks and food were available. I’m not going to lie, some of us were hurting and sore. Post hike massages were on offer for a donation to a good cause. We caught up with friends and reflected on the walk and our achievements. Staying as long or short as you like for the event after party.
We had perfect weather, the day was truly blissful and I am so thankful to Daina and her team at Destination Adventure and all the volunteers for organising this world class event. You are remarkable and we congratulate you all for bringing everyone together to participate in the event and sharing the magic of Magnetic Island. I love the fundraising aspect of these events and the opportunity to be involved with giving back to the community.
Thanks for creating a memorable experience, one which I hope to repeat next year and many more years with family and friends.

Destination Adventure host the most amazing events. Have loved the three Great Island treks I have been involved with and the April Bay to Base event was equally amazing. Particularly love the all abilities 5km trek option. Suitable for everyone - pram pushers, families and anyone who may not be able to navigate steps, hill climbs and beach sand. Will definetly be returning for the 2024 event.

I have had the pleasure of attending the great island trek a number of times over the last few years. This event is run very professionally with great attention to detail. Daina’s personality is as big as the trek, and good fun is always had by all that attend! If you haven’t had a crack at this defiantly put it on your list of things to do!!

Destination adventure runs the great island trek & bay to base on magnetic island yearly. Both the events are a favourite of mine and a must for people of all ages and fitness levels to do once in their lifetime. Trekking around magnetic island taking in the views and seeing parts of the island you would not normal visit is a highlight of this event.
I love the events so much that I’ve gone from being a participant to volunteering with Daina and the crew.

I love the camaraderie, scenery, challenge, and fun of the Destination Adventure’s Trek’s on Magnetic Island both the Great Island Trek & the Bay to Base Trek. The stunning scenery is second to none, you get to really appreciate the beautiful Magnetic Island from so many different angles. Having played sports my entire life, I can honestly say that I have never been involved in an event that is so supportive & inclusive. It is an amazing sense of accomplishment once you cross that finish line & I recommend the experience to anyone. Believe me though, once you do one trek, you’ll be hooked & find yourself signing up for every one!!😊🚶🏻‍♀

I’ve completed The Big Island Trek twice on the 15km course and the event is incredibly well organised. It’s a fabulous day and last time I extended to make the most of being on the island.

It’s a great opportunity to get a group of friends together and push ourselves to achieve something physically. It’s a brilliant day and the camaraderie with trekkers you don’t even know is fantastic.

Destination Adventure is a fantastic business who organise the BEST events on Magnetic Island every year. The Bay to Base event and the Great Island Trek are both always super well organised and an absolute blast to attend. I especially love the Bay to Base event as has an all ability course which allows everyone to be included and get outdoors in a safe and supported way. I’ve gone to a few events now and would highly recommend checking them out. The hikes are always so much fun and a great way to get outdoors and to meet others (not to mention they are sell out events!)

Destination Adventure, the name says it ALL! This business creates the most amazing events on Magnetic Island. I’ve been a part of both The Great Island Trek and Bay to Base and I will be back every year!
The events are well organised, inclusive of all abilities, friendly and most importantly well supported from start to finish.

Destination Adventure !!!!..... Wow the Island Treks that Daina and her team put together and nothing short of spectacular. From the lead up to the event, detailing every step, to the bus ride to the destination then the walk !! oh god and the scenery is just to die for of course ! Its Maggie Island so the scenery is just amazing !!. And the best way to see the island is doing A Great Island Trek. Destination Adventure is super organized and professionally run which makes the experience very special indeed. I cannot wait for the next one !!

What an amazing organisation this is. Not only helping people achieve personal goals but also assisting to see dreams come to reality. I highly rate their care factor for participants in all their activities. Simply nothing is left to chance. Their very detailed planning and execution of all activities shows a rare devotion to ensuring all participants enjoy the experience whilst conducting them in a safe manner. These qualities are what sees me returning to Destination Adventure Activities year after year.

This is a fantastic event! Although challenging,the scenery is second to none you get to see amazing landscapes as well as koalas in their natural habitat. The event is well organised despite you needing to be self sufficient regarding water/snacks the organisers go above and beyond to make sure everyone is safe and has a great time by having aide stations and many 'sweep' walkers to follow along and get everyone to the end.

Destination adventure is a excellent local company. I have been to several events and always had a great time. Daina has a good attention to detail to ensure each individual has a fantastic and safe time. I recommend wholeheartedly for anyone that wants to try something new.

The Great Island Trek and Bay to Base are highlights of the year for our group and would recommend to anyone. The scenery and people are awesome and Destination Adventure Magnetic Island do a fantastic job. Bring on the next adventure.

Destination adventure treks on magnetic island are great fun in a beautiful setting. Very well organised, catering for all fitness levels. I've done the trek 3 times and hope to do it many more!

Women's mountain biking retreat was fantastic! I gained lots of new skills and knowledge with a lot of laughs along the way. Sunset cruise and snorkelling were highlights too as was the fab food from local cafes and restaurants.

What a fantastic organisation for our community in North Qld. Daina, with the help of volunteers, delivers the best events that are always professionally run and heaps of fun. Destination adventure is all about inclusiveness and staying active, no matter your age or ability. We are so very lucky to have her here❤

Loved every (tough and fun) moment. It was an adventure from the beginning and still continues. I've met many great people through it and Daina is amazing for putting it all together. I would recommend to everyone to give it a go, you have so much to gain
