Argyle Homestead Museum offers a fascinating journey into history, showcasing a rich collection of old items from the home. The historical narratives on the walls add depth to the experience. At $5 per person, it's a reasonably priced visit, and its proximity to the campground makes it a convenient and enriching short drive excursion.

A significant bit of East Kimberley history inside these stone walls. The museum hosts were able to describe the Durack story and dynasty, with a keen sense for the significance of it all. Particularly the role of the first nations peoples, without whom, they would have surely perished. Big thanks to the hosts there who have presented the museum beautifully.

Wonderful stop on the way to Lake Argyle and well worth the visit to learn about the history of the Durack family. The care takers were very hospitable and knowledgeable.
Great 20 min walk there from the resort plus you can head up to the bluff for wonderful views of the homestead and lake.

Couldnt recommend this place enough. The house is beautifully set with lake Argyle as a backdrop. So much information about the Durack family and the greater Kimberley area. The couple running the place are lovely and can answer any questions you have. For 7 bucks this is a great way to spend two hours. The man running it also helps to maintain the exceptional walking tracks that meander back to the resort. Truly superb.

Very interesting to see how the Durak family lived and raised and drove cattle from Qld to WA. Entry fee of $5 to visit, worth it. 😁

This was a real surprise during our visit to Lake Argyle. The homestead is beautifully presented, exceptionally well maintained, and the host, Rod, provided a highly informative commentary about the homestead and the Durack family. The hosts were thoughtful, friendly, and surprisingly knowledgeable about the rich history of the fascinating Durack family. Snacks and coffee were available, as well as relevant books and DVDs. We would highly recommend a visit here.

What an amazing story! To travel from Queensland to WA with all those cattle & to have had all their food & Supplies taken by the aborigines then to struggle on. Building fences & shelters etc. Allow at least 2 hrs there is SO much information there! Highly recommend

Who wants to go to museums. Everyone should. This relocated example is housed with a lot of information about the hardships faced by this family opening up the region to cattle ranching and the eventual damming of the Ord river and irrigation of the vast area it now feeds. Worth a look.
