So good for kids but it's been painted so don't look as real.its located in a lovely spot near the river with a playground and skate park across the road.

I drove an extra day to see this magnificent creature and I'm glad I did. It was hilarious and scary at the same time. Great river frontage park also. Lots to see including paddle steamers and historical features. Very easy access to everything for wheelchairs and people with mobility issues. Lots of great parking too

Don’t miss Bunyip if you visit Murray Bridge. Kids will love it as well as you. Kids will remember it for a long time. Have a walk along the riverside or have BBQ and play across the road. Always a good time to visit.

Perect day out with family and friends. Good facilities are there to spend the whole day for families with children. Solo travellers can enjoy fishing, boat riding along the river. Some games & bar-b-q facilities are there in the park also. Carrying meals would be my recommendations for this spot.

Nice place for family gathering on the bank of Murray river. BBQ shed is there. Kids can play in the park. You can also hire boat house for more than a day. Car park is not an issue as there is a huge car park.

Yup, the Sturt Reserve is home to a river-dwelling monster from Aboriginal culture.

To the Ngarrindjeri people of the lower Murray River, this beast is known as the Mulyawonk.

The Mulyawonk Dreaming story varies from clan to clan, but the main thrust is that long ago there was a greedy man who caught too many fish and didn’t respect the Ngarrindjeri’s laws about taking only what he needed.

So the elders turned him into a half-man, half-fish creature and banished him to the river.

Children would be told this legend to teach them not to go swimming alone or catch too many fish, or the Mulyawonk will get them.

Murray Bridge’s mechanical Bunyip was first installed in a manmade cave in the park 1972 and has had several makeovers over the last 50 years.

The most recent has removed the coin-operated system so you can now push a button and see him emerge shrieking from the water for free.

The sound box has had many problems during its time... at one stage vandals somehow worked out how to jam it so it would continue to roar - often through all hours of the night.

After vandalised destroyed the original Bunyip monster a quieter, friendlier looking Bunyip was built and the cave was revamped in 2000.

The price rose to $1 for three appearances. Following major repairs in 2018, visitor can now view the Bunyip for free. The Bunyip receives in excess of 20,000 visitors per year.

Love the Bunyip, although a cleaner, more sanitized version of bunyips past.

Now free, but only plays once every 5 minutes and only during daylight hours.

This is a really fun and quirky place to visit and especially good for children. Be patient though, don't try pushing the button too many times... Oh, and it is loud 😃
