Looking at this mystical island from the mainland and after reading Confessions of a Beachcomber, Dunk has been on my bucket list for a while. Did the Mt Kootaloo & circuit track. Need moderate fitness and sturdy shoes. Looking forward to the camping ground being reopened and the resort rebuilt.

Beautiful, quiet island! We stayed there with a group of friends, had barbecue, walked to the top of the island and camped in our tents.

You can still stay at Dunk Island admittedly only camping as Cyclone Yasi destroyed the resort in 2011 as mentioned in a previous review. There is a water taxi from Mission Beach running most days so you can easily get there. There are lovely beaches, great snorkeling, a nice walk around the island and since the resort is not open it is quite quiet on the island. Would recommend a day trip over if in Mission Beach. None of the other reviews are fake!!

Worth the visit but a real shadow of its former self. It is such a shame to see it in this state but hopefully it will be rebuilt one day. It has picture perfect campsites and a really good range of waking trails

This is such a perfect place to chill out. The food and drinks are overpriced, would've stayed longer if I had a bigger budget. Stubby coolers are not supplied so byo.
