Black Snake Creek Hut Campground

Quiet place surrounded by beautiful mountains and fresh, clean high country river.

Just spent a week here, got back home yesterday 22/10/23. The weather 20 degree plus days, nights clear no clouds down to 10 degrees. The walk to Black Snake Creek East has more camp sites by the creek. We walked hoping to visit the old mine sites but were met with a sign another 2.5hr return trip down a thin rugged track Having already walked approx. 1.5 hrs. we turned around unprepared or equipped to continue on. Some other time??? Camping here the amenities were good considering its remote location. Overall, this time of the year pleasant. Summertime could be unbearably hot and dusty.

Great camp site, easy access and nice river to cool off in, some firewood available, toilet a bit smelly but overall a top spot to spend the night!

Great spot. Very basic hut, but keeps the rain off and affords access to the river.

Lots of history in this area, we spent time here cleaning up the broken chimney with the huts caretakers, next working be will be to hopefully rebuild the chimney

Beautiful little freecamp by the river! Just be careful if entering from the south as you have to do a tight turn on a steep downhill entry. You can continue up the road and use a driveway to enter from the other direction if you don't make it.

Such an excellent campsite just 20 minutes out of Dargo such a broom place to stay next to the river a great old Hut from the Victoria High Country to see and also ruined grassed campsite to stay you can stay there for free will not cost you a sent but it's absolutely picture ASIC as you are just on the border of one of the most sacred country sides of the Victoria High Country. From there you can go straight up Billy Goats Bluff across to Mount Buller or from there Skip back through Dargo and back through Omeo. Yet again a broom place to stay put a campfire on and watch the bush tele

Great camp ground. Good river, grassy camping area, drop toilet and hut. Sadly the hut has deteriorated though. Good place for families.

This is a great campsite unfortunately, some low life scum have been camping around the hut and they have left rubbish everywhere including Cruiser bottles in the bush and smashed glass everywhere.

Nice grasses area, drop toilet available and easy access.
