Mr West Bar & Bottle Shop

We came here to catch up with some friends and only had drinks so were unable to comment on the food. The place has seating inside and outside. Downstairs of the bar is a bottle shop stocking craft beer and wines from a quick glance. The place is decked out in wood with a casual vibe and the bartenders have extensive knowledge of the numerous beers they have on tap.

We love Mr West. We find ourselves coming here for the dining in experience and also the takeaway experience. The staff are super friendly and helpful whether the conversation is beer/wine related or not. The selection is always extensive and yum. We also 10/10 support their friendship with slice shop - great beer and great pizza = good times. Just remember that craft beer is expensive so the prices are higher than your average pub, but that’s the reality of the world at the moment!

As good as craft beer bars get, friendly, knowledgeable bar staff, and the best tap list in Melbourne, with a fantastic mix of hyperlocal breweries and international guest taps! The pizza from slice shop is outrageously good, and don’t forget to grab a tinnie or two from the bottle shop downstairs on your way out! 🤩

A large range of drinks on tap, and a very wide range of spirits.

I went to this place for the first time last night. The venue is dimmed creating nice atmosphere. They have a wide range of unique spirits and tap beers. Bartenders are well-versed in what they have, Josh and Peach are legends!
Only one downside of this place is too faraway from where I live lol I would go there every night if the bar was a bit closer.
I will definitely visit again soon!!

Love this place. Friendly, knowledgeable staff that are happy to walk you through the EXTENSIVE beers on tap to help you find the right thing. Great cocktails as well and I really cool warehouse/loft vibe within the bar, with plenty of space (and lighting!) To have a drink with a group of friends. Highly recommend if you're out in the West and want a place to have a drink.

Brew bar with a good selection of tap beers.
But like all brew bars, pick a vein or choose a kidney to donate because you will be leaving a tad lighter.
And a massive selection of beer downstairs.
Cosy, can order massive pizzas from across the arcade as well.

Love the team here. Super helpful and a great selection of wines, spirits and beers that you don't normally see in your standard bottle shops. Support them during this Covid_29 period. They can take up to 10 peeps at a time.
Unfortunately - the rooftop bar is closed on Monday (and Tuesday ) night. So didn't get to experience the place fully. However, good tunes and selection of drinks. Enough for me to want to go back.

Excellent venue for a craft beer or cocktail. So many wonderful options on tap with over a dozen pouring. The cheese with honey was great too!

Drinks: As soon as this place was open, everyone knew it was gonna be a hit. Drinks list is off the hook. Especially for whiskey lovers.
Service: Bar staff are super friendly. It gets super busy but they still remain very professional and composed.
Ambience: It gets packed. But funnily enough, we have pretty much always found a seat. Open air smoking area outside as well.
Value: You get more than what you pay for. Very reasonably priced.

Summary: You can bring food in??????? Seriously. How fricken’ cool is that? There’s a pizza shop right underneath and you can order from them and bring it up.
The only other places I have seen do that are 2 plane rides away. But in food heaven Footscray? Far out.. seriously…

My very favourite bottle shop in Melbourne. They have an insane surcharge for drinking in (downstairs) but offer discounts when you buy more than 6 beers at a time so I guess it's alright? The selection is well worth it, so I'll let it slide. Otherwise, wait til evening and go upstairs to drink on tap minus the charge. In addition to beer, this spot has a great natty selection (and lets you BYO food!) What's not to love?

Bartender hunts down a fresh pineapple at the marketplace in order to complete my drink. That shows commitment and dedication on how Mr west treats their patrons. Also can order Slices of the best pizza 🍕 opposite of Mr west. Also won award for best specialised beer bar of the year

Something for everyone at Mr West that is rocking with coolness, calming vibes, dim lighting, splashes of nature and tunes pumping that have you enjoying the space and company of whom you are with.

We had the pleasure of attending an online zoom cheese and craft beer tasting with cheeses from France and Craft beer matchings supplied by Mr West Bar and Bottle shop in Footscray. Mr West came up with a really good collection of local craft beers and the matching were explained and made sense. Favourites included the Molly Rose Pamplemousse Bleu Belgian style ale with a citrus backing and 8% alcohol and the Future Mountain Fireside smoked porter. Both of these really worked with their cheese pairing and were great to try. Can’t wait to visit Mr West’s in person when I am able to venture beyond my 25km bubble again.

Vibin' local bar. An amazing bar in the Westside that has you covered in all areas. There is a bottle shop on the ground floor that you can grab for take away or drink there with a corkage fee. Great selection of beers, wines, vodka, whiskey, gin and much more. If you head upstairs there is a bar serving a number of different types of beers on tap. You can also order pizza from the Slice across the road which is a highlight. They also have a courtyard and front shop outdoor area which is dog friendly. Not to mention their friendly staff and good service.

Great bar and they run great events. Definitely check the place out and enjoy a few beverages. They also have a good bottle shop. Keep an eye on the socials for any event they are running as they are a lot of fun.

Mr West is one of the pioneers that is breathing life into Footscray’s emerging bar/nightlife scene. They have bravely established a drinking hole on the graveyard of a $2 shop in the heart of Footscray’s aging mall.

Excellent range of craft beer, wine and cocktails pouring from their 24 tap setup as well as an impressive range of spirits. Being a craft beer fan, I was impressed with the delicious range of beers available. The choice of pot, schooner or pint also makes trying a range of beers more affordable. There is something for everyone which makes you feel less guilty for brining your non-beer drinking mates here. The cocktails are unique but approachable, I can confirm Caleb’s Special Drink (beetroot based) and the Espresso Martini on Nitro are delicious.

It has industrial feel to it with stripped back concrete walls, large timber beams, booth seating, natural light from skylights and a minimalistic layout. My only gripe with the layout is the rather uncomfortable low wooden stools. It’s not the kind of seating that makes you want to stick around and I noticed most people on this seating left after one drink or moved to the booths. Perhaps higher bar tables would be more comfortable however, I understand there are plans to improve the seating arrangements. A small rooftop courtyard sits at the front which to be fair will probably be crammed with smokers most of the time.

Cheese and charcuterie boards are available and you can also BYO food from nearby eateries/take-away shops. Relaxed environment with friendly and knowledgeable staff. I will definitely be coming back and swinging by the bottleshop when it opens. Hats off to Mr West.

Craft beer, good wine, better spirits and great cocktails are the big draws here. The crew here focus on friendliness and passion which ripples throughout, from the guns on the taps to the lads in the wine shop. Behind the long bar there's a huge wall of 26 rotating taps to keep your attention piqued. And the bomb here is you can bring food there is a pizza shop right underneath and you can order from them and bring it up. Only other places I have seen do that are like 2 plane rides away. But in food heaven Footscray? Its the bomb in my backyard thanks boys for the awesome service …
