Big Red Cafe

A really good café on the edge of Engadine centre.

Big Red has your standard Australian brunch food, all of which seems to be done to a good standard, but nothing that will blow your socks off. That said, the price definitely will, it's VERY cheap compared to most of Sutherland Shire!

Coffees were okay, but very milky for flat whites. A few sips in and you could barely taste the coffee. Takeout coffees in the past have been good though so this might have been a one off.

Service was friendly, but a little inattentive. We were there for an hour and nobody ever came out to tidy away what previous customers had left on the table.

There was a good amount of space outside thanks to the Cafe next door being closed when we visited (on a Saturday), and Big Red using some of their outdoor space. But this spot is always busy so I wouldn't count on always getting a table easily.

Highchairs were available, and there were good kids options. However, they brought the kids food out way later than the adults, which caused some predictable issues. I'd really recommend reversing that order.

Parking is available right outside on the street for an hour, and on/in various nearby streets and car parks for longer.

Overall a good spot, and somewhere we'll definitely be back to.

Food arrived quickly and was really tasty, especially my egg and bacon roll on sourdough :)

Only nit-pick was that the tables out the front were not cleaned and the cleaner/cloth were sitting on a table that needed a clean. I'm assuming it was busy and it was overlooked, but not the best.

Awesome little cafe. Plenty of gluten-free options, excellent food, great coffee, and the staff were really friendly as well. Worth stopping off here if you're passing on the motorway.

Made a stop at this cute lil cafe while on the way to Kiama. Amazing coffee!

Quite simply one of the best cafes.
Over 4 years, never once disappointed with the quality and quantity of food, pricing and friendliness of staff.
Definitely one of my favourites and highly recommend.

🍔 Burger: perfect! Toasted sesame bun, delicious juicy beef patty, all with nicely picked ingredients 🍔

🍟 Potato fries: nicely cut, not too thin, not too thick, fried to perfect with right amount of seasoning not too salty 🍟

Thick shake: omg! Highly recommend as that’s one of the best thick shakes we have had

One of the best of not the best places in Engadine to have breakfast and lunch. Great coffee, brilliant food, great people working there. Their burgers of the month are just fantastic, so inventive. I'm happy this place exists in my area.

I give this cafe a 5 star review. The food and coffee was 10/10 for me. The barista came and asked me if I would like my coffee remade because there was to much frothe, but I was extremely happy with my coffee. Keep up with the awesome work.

Friendly staff, delicious food, great cafe for all meals. Consistently good food quality, generous portion sizes, great variety of food. A must visit. Get yourself down there.

Had lunch there today and I had the Magic Mushrooms. Probably the nicest thing I've eaten in any Cafe in years. So delicious and the service was fast and friendly. Thanks!!

Wonderful place I had the chicken burger and thick milkshake all for under 16$. This has to be one of the best burgers for the price in the south of Sydney.

A wonderful local Cafe, with friendly staff and great service. Excellent coffee, amazing baristas and delicious food. Text ahead service is available, with their convenient location. I would highly recommend Big Red Cafe to anyone.

This place has brilliant coffee and very tasty bacon and egg rolls. The Barista is good looking ;) and they have quirky espresso cups.

Have put on 10kgs since I discovered the burgers & fries here, and 1 visit per week morphed into 2 per week, and then into ... well you get the idea. The monthly burger special is always worth a go! Overall, a little gem that Engadine needed

Fantastic burger options. Definitely recommend coming here for your lunch. They use such good and fresh solutes for their food that make it so tasty and juicy. The chips are also some of the best in engadine.

This is the best coffee in Engadine. Hands down. There is no comparison. Sorry everyone else. Cheap prices, quick service, AMAZING BURGERS, and really really tasty coffee. 10/10 would go again.

I popped in on the way to Sydney to grab a coffee. I was taken aback with the friendliness of the staff. Three different staff members connected with me! Such a welcoming and friendly place! The coffee was amazing too. I will definitely be stopping by again. Thank you Big Red Cafe. ❤
