Strickland House

You can't go in to the house except on special occasions, but the gardens are lovely and worth exploring. Especially nice is the hermitage foreshore walk, with its hidden coves and beaches. Absolutely essential exploring with wonderful views.

Nestled in Sydney Harbour National Park, Strickland House is a Victorian Italianate marvel with a diverse past. Once a residence for Sydney's elite, it later housed a convalescent home and aged care facility.

Today, it welcomes bushwalkers, history buffs, beachgoers, and photographers to its grounds and gardens. Enjoy picnics on the lawn, a dip at Milk Beach, and easy access to Nielsen Park and Vaucluse House. The Hermitage Foreshore track or the scenic Milk Beach grant entry to the exquisite gardens.

Stunning spot to relax or go for a walk. The walking distance isn’t massive although you’ll Be stopping regularly to take in the views!

Well maintained historical building. Great view from this location.

I haven't been to the actual house. We had a family picnick on the greens. The view from the grounds is striking. There are some tables and benches and a passage to a little beach. The only small drawback is that you have to park you car in the street and then walk down the road. The walk is short though. The photos show the view.

This place is so amazing. I shot out here with a photographer for some modelling but there were construction fences around. Not sure why but great for exploring if you've never been to Vaucluse. Such a nice area, beautiful houses and right next to the Strickland house is a little mini beach.. like 20 or so metres, it's really small and quiet and great for going alone or with a couple friends to just chill and explore in the city.

That building is very fabulous. It's a heritage building facing sea. Down there, u will find milk beach which gives u osm harbor and city sea look.

The house is no longer rented out for events, but the outside area is great for engagements and weddings. Great views over Sydney harbour with the bridge in centre view.

Great guide, and the house will be wonderful when it is fully renovated.

Lovely place, unfortunately its closed to the pubic (except on special accasions). Nevertheless the view over the bay and the towards the city is stunning!

Great gardens and scenic views. Not many people around so great for exploring and learning about history.
