There is so much to like about this restaurant. We visited from Melbourne at the recommendation of ex Canberra residents and we were expecting a good experience but honestly didn’t expect it to be this good! A great way to start is to be greeted by the owner/chef Damien who greets everyone it seems. He also seemed to visit every table in a very busy restaurant to explain the specials and just have a welcome or goodbye chat. I have never seen this level of attention from the “main man” before. And the food was magnificent and reasonably priced. I had snails done in a different way, tomato based. The juices soaked up by their in house sourdough. Then the duck - fabulous. My wife had a beautiful dish of tempura orange roughy. And yes we had room for dessert! Crème caramel and profiteroles - first class way to finish. We will definitely visit again when we return to Canberra. Thanks again Damien and staff

Had my first meal tonight at D'Browes.
What a treat! Every mouthful was tasty. The chef definitely knows how to produce tasty dishes. I tried the chicken crepe for my entree. Soooo good.
For my main I had fish and chips. My goodness this meal was full of tasty. What a treat to find this beautifully elegant simple combination.
I can recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys good food and excellent service.

Love the simple, white tablecloths, the relaxed elegance, the charming décor, the familiar hospitality, and the classical menu. The food’s not bad either.

We really like eating here in a group or just two of us. Choices in every course are delicious and generous. I keep going back for the chicken and leek crepe and the profiteroles. Love our Damien comes out to chat about the specials. I think it is unique and special.

The owner is the head Chief and he will introduce himself and go through the menu with you.
The food is so yummy and even though I only go maybe twice a year at max, the menu changes and has lovely options.
Customer service is wonderful.

Exceptional! This restaurant never disappoints. The regular menu is always enticing, but the owner always has a long list of equally exciting specials. Must try the mushrooms, kidneys, duck livers for entree. Duck and lamb shanks are main course highlights. Not to mention desserts! Highly recommended...

I can't believe we are locals and have never been here before. The mains were beautiful - reasonable prices and generous serving sizes. I chose the lamb shanks and my partner the eye fillet - both scrumptious.
Have already booked to return and bring some friends in two weeks time.
BYO - even saw people come in with an esky for a shared table!
Only thing I could suggest to the chef owner (which I did on the night) is that there are so many specials they need to be written up on a board for diners, otherwise it is too hard to remember what they are when told.
Definitely will be returning time and again

First time there and 4 diners. 2 locals and 2 from Sydney. We Absolutely loved the food. Generous portions too. The lamb shanks were so big (2) I onnly managed to finish one! Must leave room for dessert! But I happily took the other one home. BYO only. Only $8 corkage..one charge per table
The Chef, Damian comes to every table soon after you are seated to welcome you and to run through the menu and spcials. Fabulous. Wait staff are cheerful, they obviously love their jobs. Place was packed by around 7.30. We had a 6.15 booking and did not leave 'till almost 9.00. Not rushed and not too noisy considering it was full and very reasonably priced. We will deffinitely be back. Just added D'Browes to our 'favorite list'.

What a great restaurant. Tucked away in a suburban shopping street this restaurant offers a small menu of superb food (French and Italian influences) in generous proportions. Expect white tablecloths and efficient service. We have eaten here on many occasions and have never been disappointed.

Generous portions, calm ambiance with a small intimate location, chef coming to explain the specials is a nice touch. BYO wines and reasonable pricing, would highly recommend to Canberra residents or anyone passing through

Great food. Small, quiet intimate dining room. No music 👍. Chef coming out is a nice touch, but suggest ensuring the apron is clean and face is clear of sweat.

D'Browes continues to hold 1st place for me as my favourite Canberra restaurant venue. Damien does such an incredible job of creating a diverse and high quality, high value menu. Maddie gets full points for her vibrant & effervescent service (every time!) and for creating such a welcoming experience for everyone. Exceptional choice of restaurant for lunch & dinner and of course, there's endless free parking.

A hidden gem. Superb French-oriented food served with panache. The sardines, lamb shanks and desserts are to die for. BYO too! A classy place for lunch or dinner.

My wife and I eat here every couple of weeks. We keep coming back for the good range of inexpensive good hearty food, the friendly staff and the spic and span surroundings. It's a bonus for us that it's BYO because that means we can take good wine we don't have to pay through the nose for.
