OTIS Dining Hall

The timber wood setting in Otis had a really cool vibe. It was peaceful and spacious inside. When the food came, as a chef myself I felt sincerity in every dish. Each sauce, garnish, plates and food itself was given much thought and I could taste that in every bite. The service staff and Cara were so helpful and friendly, we felt special and honoured by the attention to detail. Everything tonight was a great experience for me. Highly recommended for everyone.

We booked a work team dinner at Otis, and it was amazing. The service was exemplary with Cara and Ben looking after our table, both of whom were attentive, friendly, and nothing was an issue. The food was magnificent, flavours were well matched and refined. The cost was surprising - we expected it to be considerably more expensive however it was very reasonably priced. I highly recommend Otis!

Chef's tasting menu was really good, Service was great too: prompt, friendly without being overly intrusive. Wine selection and pairing was also outstanding.

Otis was our choice for our special anniversary. It was everything we had expected and even more. The food was absolutely marvelous, especially the pumpkin ravioli which was worth dying for. Overall it was an absolute delightful experience. Would definately like to be back, one of the best fine dining restaurants in Canberra.

Wow! Where do I start with my account of dining here? Let's start with the first things you'll encounter: the environment and staff. The restaurant is quite unassuming from the outside but welcoming, but also its exterior belies the dining experience ahead of you. Inside, the restaurant has hues of brown and other earthy colours that are bathed in soft warm lighting that creates an intimate and welcoming environment. Tables are arranged to give diners a sense of separation from one another, and is very welcome in an age where some restaurants put customer quantity before their dining privacy. The staff compliment the restaurant and are extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. They are also well presented which all adds to the impression you're going to have a superior dining experience. Which is exactly what you get.
The food here is next level, and cooked to perfection. Everything I devoured was sublime and plentiful. Flavours and tastes supported each other rather than competed or overpowered one another. The texture of my food was also noteworthy. Nothing was over or under cooked. Meats weren't chewy, vegetables weren't soft, fish wasn't pulpy and salads hadn't wilted. Sauces were warm and zesty and helped carry the flavours of the dishes I ate. The presentation of the dishes that adorned my table were top drawer too. A real treat for the eyes. Plates weren't overcrowded with food, likewise the food wasn't dwarfed by the plates either. Signature dishes were worthy of their reputation and clearly demonstrated the abilities of the kitchen staff, as did the non-signature dishes. I must also mention the thought and effort that went into my wife's vegan menu / dishes. They didn't feel like, or taste like, an afterthought or a poor cousin of the main menu. The food that was served to my wife was original and a delight to eat. In fact, the vegan dishes I tasted should be a choice on the main menu so more people can enjoy their brilliance.
There is a marvellous balance and synergy to the food at OTIS, but not just with the flavours. The whole place informs you there is a real treat awaiting you. The mood, the decor, the staff, the beverage list and food are all important parts of one marvellous package.
If you live in, or are just visiting, Canberra get yourself to OTIS for a dining experience no amount of hyperbole can do justice too.

Arrived with my dad at Otis and selected our own meals from the menu.
We started with drinks which were prompt and aided by attentive and incredibly friendly, engaging staff.
Selected the entree Pumpkin Ravioli, which is one of the best I've ever had, and absolutely fantastic flavors.
We then selected the Peppercorn Steak, it was again one of the best I've ever had, cooked perfectly and paired with a lovely Shiraz, it was so brilliant, if I had become vegetarian it would be a mi-STEAK.
I then ended the night on a Tiramisu and an Espresso Martini, while rich, the flavors were creamy and delicious, I highly recommend trying if you enjoy coffee.
Overall, a brilliant experience, I loved all the food served, and enjoyed the engagement with the staff, I cannot recommend Otis enough.

I was blown away. Absolutely every dish was divine!
The whole experience was wonderful. From the customer service from Cara and Max. To then the special appearance and chat with executive chef Damian Brabender himself. Damian took the time out to tell me about my main dish, as he swapped the beef out for pork due to cater to my dietary requirements. He made sure to tell me he cooked it on a seperate pan and wanted to make sure I had enough sauce (it was perfect). He was so warm and you could tell how much passion he had for creating such memorable food for his guests.
Dining at OTIS was amazing and I will gladly be back very soon!

Whilst in Canberra, I was given this recommendation to visit OTIS dining hall by a friend.
To say that my expectations were exceeded is an understatement!  The entire team were excellent in service, knowledge and energy.  They were very efficient and nothing was too much trouble.
I choose the 8 course winter truffle degustation.  Each flavour unique to every dish.  The food was sublime, however when you include the wine pairing (I selected "Museum") then the the tastes change again and only for the better.  It is literal Food alchemy!!
James as sommelier and host is to be commended, his intimate knowledge of wine and how they compliment each dish is truly amazing!

An exceptional dining experience from start to finish. We had the Winter Truffle Degustation menu at OTIS Dining hall and it was just so delicious! Damien and his team sure know now to work the truffle! The staff were courteous and very attentive, the atmosphere was very pleasant and the food was out of this world. With the very reasonable pricepoint and top notch quality of food, OTIS can rival any high end restaurant in Sydney. We are already planning another trip back just to eat the Cauliflower Velouté again. Highly recommend this restaurant for celebrating a special occasion, or if you just want a delicious meal.

Super delicious tasting menu. Some of the vegan options were better than the standard ones according to my partner. Great service, nice atmosphere. Only tiny improvements could be to watch for empty glasses and offer more wine and the room looked a bit grubby. Mirrors could do with a polish, many light bulbs were out. Highly recommend for a delicious dinner.

Loved our meal at Otis - friendly and attentive service and absolutely delicious food. We had some dietary constraints in our group so asked our waiter to bring us whatever he and the kitchen recommended, and they did a brilliant job. Great wine list too. Thanks Otis team, we will be back!

The quality of the food at Otis is just amazing. Every single dish that came out had such depth in its flavour. The price of the meal was very reasonable for the quality and presentation. You can tell the chef's take real pride in everything that comes out of the kitchen as nothing could be faulted.

The restaurant looks beautiful inside, and the wait staff made a real effort to ensure our experience was the best it could be.

Highly recommend Otis for a dinner Meetup with friends, or to enjoy with the family for a special occasion.

We had the chefs tasting menu and it was absolutely sensational, i found the food and service far outshine the venue.

Food was amazing. Perfection. Delicious. Friendly waitstaff made for a relaxed evening with friends. We were all very very happy with all the dishes that we’d chosen. I’m looking forward to dining there again especially when there are non alcoholic wines on offer to enjoy with the food.

It was such a pleasant surprise to find some unique and creative dishes at Otis! We opted in for the 5 course Chef's menu, and would definitely dine here again. The pace of the service was inconsistent, but the servers were professional and friendly.

Delicious food. Octopus entree was one of the best octopus dishes i have ever eaten. Lamb rump was perfect! Service was overly eager and a little disruptive tonight, however overheard that there were a lot of new staff on the floor.

Not only was the service fantastic, but the food was even better. Possibly the best fine dining restaurant in Canberra! The staff are knowledge and the chefs are incredible…. The snapper for the entree, the pork chop for the main and the Tartimisu for dessert is PHENOMINAL…..

Looking forward to my next visit :D
