This is one of the best places to chill in Canberra. Not a place you'd usually review but that's why I think it deserves one. In my 7 years in Canberra, I switched houses, jobs and friends a few times but the one place that I probably visited most consistently was this one. If you haven't done the bridge to bridge walk, stop what you're doing and go today! Its a very easy 5k and offers some stunning views of the lake, Anzac Parade Grounds, the national carillon and Telstra Tower. The flag display itself is not only fun to look at but also a nice game to play with friends. Next time you're here, try spotting the only (3 is my guess) non-state flags.
A lot of CBR events tend to happen around this place too. Enlighten, new years fireworks display, floriade and most recently the drone show. With the jetty restaurants reopening there's also food and drinks available nearby and public toilets too if you're really in a bind.
Come here to meditate, come here to breathe (really useful during the covid lockdowns). Look at the pretty flags, look at the ripples in the lake, look at Telstra Tower in the distance.. and you can't help but feel thankful.

I loved the flag display. It is interesting to walk through the flags and read which countries they belong to. Not sure what it was, but I loved it here. Great views across the lake from here also. Nice area to sit and relax.

Beautiful display of flags. The International Flag Display (the Display) in Canberra's Parliamentary Zone colorfully acknowledges the international presence in Australia's National Capital.
Originally launched in 1999, by the Governor General, the Hon Sir William Deane, the display has become an important attraction for tourists and locals alike. The Minister for Regional Development, Territories and Local Government Dr John McVeigh opened a revitalised display 13 June 2018 which saw the addition of 10 additional flags.
The revitalised Display now consists of 110 flags in total, representing 108 Missions that have a diplomatic presence as well as flags for the European Union and the United Nations.

Gorgeous serene peaceful place, perfect place to catch up with friends and family for a picnic, stroll around Lake Burley, or just simply to sit along the lake enjoying the sun over a chat.
