We had such a delicious meal at Hachiko! The food was absolutely divine and servings were generous. We ordered way too much food, and I'm also glad that we did! The food is a unique blend of Japanese and western flavours - incredibly nourishing and flavoursome. Vanessa and the team looked after us, and the view of the lake was the perfect backdrop for dinner. We will be back!

Enjoyed the 2 course lunch special. The Wagyu burger was solid. Tasted good with fresh ingredients. The patty was well sized but perhaps a touch cooked longer than my liking. The bun was fluffy and delicious. The truffle mayo was very subtle, struggles to taste the truffle. Chips were ok, there was lots of it. Sides were a great accompaniment. Not special but we're nice. Overall it was a fantastic meal with the drink. Am nit picking. It was a memorable meal in a clean/modern environment with views of the lake.

Great small and quiet place for a nice meal.

The menu is somewhere between traditional Japanese dishes (as chawanmushi, ochazuke) and a hint of a fusion mix from different influences (the ochazuke has a mediterranean tomato based soup style).

The plates were well served, 3 main meals (ochazuke, and 2 Donburis), couple entrees and one side to share (tempuras) and we were all happily fed and impressed with the quality and reasonable price.

The place seems a bit small if you're planning a gathering of 12+, but some nice diner style booths for 4. The ambience is clean and quiet which allows a intimate conversation on low level to be maintained.

A place worth checking.

Just been there once again. A cold night.
Food was once again very nice. Desert was not up to the food (not bad, just not aaaaas good). The lotus root chips and the Yuzu salt edamame are really good starters and follows well the gyōza and the takoyaki)

Tried the lunch special and it was super yummy. For $26, you get an entrée, main and a drink. What a bargain!! Plenty of choices and lovely service. The food came out quickly so we were able to finish within the hour. The mains of duck breast don and unagi don were beautifully cooked and just melted in my mouth. And you can never go wrong with chicken karaage and takoyaki. They have a great set menu for dinner too. Definitely worth checking out

Absolutely wonderful! The best western Japanese fusion restaurant in Canberra!

The food was exceptional and service was amazing.I particularly love the prawn rice soup. The rice was exquisitely fused with prawn soup and the prawn on the top was freshly grilled.

Hidden gem beside Lake Ginninderra, Belconnen. Deliciously balanced flavours, textures & colours in each dish. Outdoor tables lakeside. Cheerful quick service at lunchtime. Also open for dinner. A little hard to find from the street, Emu Bank. Entry also from lakeside path at Boardwalk building.

Had a quick dinner with family while visiting Canberra. Just be mindful that some of the dishes are spicy (very mild) even though the menu description doesn’t indicate it.

Hachiko has a casual vibe and flavoursome food. The duck tacos, unagi don (eel omelet) and the yuzu lime tart were all delicious. Will return soon for that delicious eel omelet! Food is well priced. My only recommendation is to introduce an online booking system as the restaurant space is on the smaller side.

Great atmosphere by the lake with alcohol drink options (Asahi Soukai and sake) that's gluten free!
Food was quality and tasty! Service was friendly and attentive. Portions are a little on the smaller side but was good to grab a few plates to taste and share. My favourites were the takoyaki balls, karaage chicken and prawn pasta. Definitely coming back with the crew for a drink and feed on a nice night.

We came here without a booking on Friday night with no issue - now this doesn’t mean the food wasn’t great!

The chawanmushi and takoyaki were great starters, each octopus ball had a few pieces of octopus in it which is rare! The grilled duck breast don was really generous with an entire duck breast which was juicy and tender. The charred broccolini literally tasted exactly like Raku’s - my mind was blown.

This place is kind of like the place you’d go to if you want easygoing “Japanese” - there isn’t any sushi or sashimi here but everyone will definitely find something they like on the menu. We will be back!

First time visiting Hachiko this evening and can say I left extremely satisfied! The service was friendly and attentive, and I can see why they have such positive reviews!
As for the food, I had the okonomiyaki to start, and the seared duck breast don (donburi) as a main. The okonomiyaki were just the right size (2 small ones) as an entree, and were very close to some of my favourites from Osaka. The duck donburi was also really good, just the right portion size and perfectly cooked. I'll definitely be coming back, that's for sure!

Quiet place with lake view, very good atomsphere. Food is good, especially the duck taco, amazing source, and fast service after ordering, overall recommended.

A new restaurant in the block but they have certainly taken off big time. I'm tempted to try the tasting menu on offer for $70 per head next time. On this occasion however we tried the unagi omelet don and green mussel miso soup. They were amazing and I would recommend both. Yours truly @fooderarri

What a great meal, we chose Hachiko after a long time looking at it's online reviews etc and were pretty blown away by its simplicity and quality of the dishes served.
We ordered mainly entrees for the four if us in groups of 2 or 3 dishes, and from the oysters to karaage to tempura and gyoza every plate was a winner and had a unique spin on it's standard presentation.
The waitress kept mum and her friend happy and dealt with our orders so professionally, she even nailed it by offering to chill mum's friend's red wine- which Di was thinking to ask at the time!
Wheras fusion can usually disappoint, the carefully considered tweaks maintain the original impact of the dishes whilst offering a surprising, cheeky, or just plain tasty and original lift. With it's short but well selected and priced wine list, bring on Collector Rose and wagyu gyoza anytime.

Great plating, great food, relaxed environment. Bit cold if you sit next to the door. Food is amazing, it's difficult to find similar japanese fusion places in Canberra. Menu is lacking in choices a bit but the food that is on there is well curated and has good depth of flavour. Okonomiyaki was great but far from Osaka level yet. Great place overall.

The food here is absolutely delicious. We ordered 4 dishes and each one was a stand out.

One of the best restaurants in Belconnen.

Vanessa's restaurant Hachiko is a Western Japanese Fusion cosily located next to Belconnen lake. The food is served in perfect stoneware dinnerware and the service is very accommodating. I loved the Chicken gyoza, the wagyu beef and the chat with Vanessa. Music is also soothing. Will treat my friends to dinner at Hachiko :)
