RAILWAY TAVERN The Bottle-O

As I sit in the far corner, most of the locals have left, just a small handful of local legends. A local with a fresh baby welcomes me and tells me how their life is going great and they're loving living here.

It's pretty warm and this blue slushy with white rum is (Malibu) is keeping the buss going while I devour my chicoen and cranberry sauce pizza.

There's a pool table, two dart boards, a juke box and there must be a skimpy night because I'm seeing signed posters and stickers. I'm sure it goes off here, bet Friday's are sick.

Locals are boisterous and charming, someone brought a dog.

Finally the staff have been super charming. just like that extra bit genuinely nice that makes you feel at home even though you're going to sleep in a swag in the camping spot across the road.

A proper Oz pub, friendly greeting from the owners, excellent beers, WiFi if needed, and the infamous Pizza's, we had the Supreme and Prospector and both were awesome.. We visited with our 8 (sorry 9) yr old and she was made to feel very welcome also. To be able to stay at a free camp location across the road from a bub like this is a no brainer. Highly recommended 👌

The Railway Tavern is a class country pub, Garth, Kerry & staff are all super genuinely great people and very accommodating to our needs as guest at the railway hotel.

The food serving’s are massive and delicious! The overall vibe was a very chilled atmosphere and the outdoor area is beautiful! The beds are super comfy, especially after a long day at work.

Would definitely come and stay here again! Thanks for having us and putting up with us longer then expected! 😊💛 love the traffic controllers for DM roads xxx

Came here for work . This place is awesome ! The food is excellent . The steak is on point everytime. Pizza always a hit. Staff are awesome as well . I'm fussy with my food but never disappointed. Such a fun pub . Stop thru one evening . The guys won't disappoint you .

Was recommended to go here by a couple of locals for dinner. Arrived around 6pm on a Friday night to complimentary bar snacks (party pies & sausage rolls) and extremely friendly and welcoming staff. Had a jalapeño-loaded pizza (appropriately called the burning caboose!), the best garlic & cheesy garlic bread I've had in years plus tried three of their 5 parmies, the Texan, Mexican and Hayley's. The parmies came with a generous serving of chips, garden salad and potato salad - all were absolutely delicious.
They easily accommodated the rest of our group of 13 in the beer garden and the food, while slow to come out, was always served hot, fresh and amazingly delicious. They also offer takeaway.

Great food aside, the staff cannot be talked up enough. Everyone working here was exceptional, despite us overtaking the front bar initially before discovering the back bar and beer garden. We were all treated like long-lost friends and felt very welcome by all the staff, especially the barman who had us in stitches all night and introduced us to some very tasty shots! The chef even came out (on request) to meet our group and receive our praises for her hard work, after we'd been chatting to the owners for a while.

All in all, exactly what I'd expect for a country pub, and then some. If you're passing through Southern Cross, do yourself a favour and stop for the night here. You won't regret it!!!

Well, what can I say but “absolutely fabulous”! After a hard day on the road from Mandurah we were hunting for a relaxing place to have a vino or two. From the moment we walked in with our doggo - Llama we were welcomed by the owner & the team. After a few laughs, great music, a group photo taken and a freebie “ Christmas shot” we left to head across the road to sleep in our caravan for the night! So nice to still experience the great Ozzie service! Thank you to team at Railway tavern!

Turned up on a Wednesday at 12pm (just as they were opening). Asked if the kitchen was open and was told that they don't normally do lunch during the week. The staff were very helpful offering to turn on the deep fryers and cook us a schnitzel, chips and salad. Which after a drive from Perth, were happy with anything.

Schnitzel was cooked perfectly and the chips and salad were awesome. Great serving for the price.

Saturday night and it was a hoot! Came for dinner and received great hospitality, greetings all round and hearty, yummy Australian pub fare. Highly recommend.

Best food in town and the staff and locals are so friendly and welcoming. We will be back without a doubt.

What can I say? A GREAT AUSSIE PUB, friendly people and the best pizzas you can eat. RVs and caravans can park up across the road and enjoy the food and a drink and friendly atmosphere of this original pub.

If I could give more stars I would. Our visit was faultless. Came across the Railway Tavern while travelling across from the East Coast. Food top notch and plentiful. The staff and patrons were super friendly. Loved the atmosphere. Great decor. Awesome beer garden with a kids play area. Our kids had endless fun and didn't want to leave. The Railway Tavern has left a very positive lasting impression in my mind. Definitely a place I won't forget. I recommend if you are passing through the town of Southern Cross WA, come and pay them a visit! Thank you Railway Tavern.

Love the people always friendly polite service best food for a night out. Great service, food and if you are looking for a great meal this is the place. The railway hotel has added a pizza menu now, I have tried and OMG the most delicious pizza and garlic bread I've had in a long time.

Great publican, great staff and the locals are great too. We spent an enjoyable few hours fitting in with everyone and felt right at home.

This is without a doubt, the best and friendliest pub we have encountered in our 5 months travelling through WA.

Can’t rate this place more highly. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. We had pizzas and garlic bread and they were great. Kids had a ball out the back in the kids area. Thank you so much Railway Tavern for having us.

Pure dead brilliant country pub. Last night, on our way back from the muster we stopped over for a pizza and beer night. Huge range of pizzas all cooked perfectly. washed down with cold beers followed by some crazy shots. The staff and management team were spot on and looked after everyone. Locals were a great bunch and good for a bit of banter. The Ritz it's not, a darn good up front country pub it is.

Rooms are 3 star because it isn't the Ritz as mentioned earlier. But super friendly and food is amazing. Stayed with my 14yo daughter and they were really accommodating. Lovely hostess called Ky. If you want good budget accommodation with that great country atmosphere then stay here. This is what traveling Australia is about.

What a great pub. Fascinating character with the locals sharing their stories. Garth the owner with his wife tell their story of their journey and what they love about their town Southern Cross. They had a power outage and yet the local still patronage the local. The atmosphere is something to be experienced. The railway has a colourful history having been burnt down twice and yet still has an historic revelance.
The service is beyound comparison from the bar service, accommodation and meals. The ambience and experience are to be acknowledged. Thank you for adding to my country pub experience. Well done to all who contribute.
