Double Creek Nature Walk

Very short walk (my watch said .58km not 1km) but beautiful. We saw a lyrebird by the creek and loved all the bird calls. Worth a quick stop if you want to stretch your legs on the way to Mallacoota.

One of the few walks left around Mallacoota where the bush had not been burned in the fires of January 2020, and consequently we were enchanted by good views of Rufous Fantail, Black-faced Monarch, Bell Miner, and Eastern Yellow Robin. Best walk of our short stay.

Nice short nature walk

Short loop with amazing bird and animal life. Spotted two Lyrebirds, koalas and plenty of smaller birds.

Great location for rare birds e.g. Superb Lyrebirds. We fear now that the bushfires would have wiped the area out.

Nice little nature walk circuit with lots of birdlife to be seen.

A great picnic area on the top lake.

A nice very short loop walk, lots of bell miners and whipbirds to be heard. Lots of ferns and wildflowers however the area is becoming overgrown with boneseed weed at the moment. Carry a stick with you because there are a lot of spider webs across the path!

The Double Creek Nature Walk is wonderful. The fires of 2019/20 burnt through this area and damaged some of the boards and steps lining the track, but Parks Victoria has opened both the loop on the west side of the Mallacoota Road and the track along the creek to the lake on the east side of the road.
The regrowth along the tracks is dramatic following the wet years, although many of the big trees were killed by the fire. The track to the lake was slashed a few weeks ago but the grass and shrubs is regrowing quickly.
Well worth a visit.
