RuYi Modern Chinese

Last week my family and I had an amazing dining experience at Ruyi. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted warmly. The ambience was cozy yet elegant, perfect for family dinner. The food? It was simply divine! Each dish was really delicious, especially my fav was the barramundi fillet which was absolutely fantastic! The service also was impeccable, making our evening even more enjoyable. We will come back for sure. ❤

You always know you are entering a well run hospitality business when the first person you meet has a huge smile and welcoming warmth. All the wait staff were the same helpful and friendly. On to the food which was perfect we could not fault any of it. Flavoursome, original, ample, well priced and simply delicious. From the eggplant chips and chicken wings to the duck cones as entrees were all amazing. Then a scrumptious main of Ribs in a divine sauce with the best fried rice I have ever had. Ending with a dessert platter that was such a surprise in a Chinese restaurant, definitely a modern take on beautiful dishes. An all-round perfect dining experience and one you should not miss.

Best Asian restaurant in Melbourne! I didn’t expect to have such a nice experience and great food in this modern Chinese restaurant. But literally taste so good and with reasonable price! Set menu 5-course is only 59pp! Must try it out!

We celebrated Chinese New Year's Eve at RuYi, it’s the most important day for any Chinese family to have a lovely dinner together.
The 7-course special designed Chinese New Year set menu was sensational, each course was outstanding. The cocktails we had were delicious! The lion dancing performance was the best, bringing the New Year vibe to its peak.
We had to wait 20 mins for our table, even though we had made a booking, but with the good food and drinks, down to the detailed service, we still think RuYi is worth five stars. We will be back again next year for the celebration!

Recently came here with a friend and the experience lived up to our hopes. The ambience was intimate and comfortable, service was great and food was delicious. Overall great night out!

This is literally the best Asian restaurant in Melbourne that I have ever come across! The home plate section all tastes soooooo good! Must try their flaming king prawn🥰, definitely worse trying.

Located in a quiet alleyway, it offers a nice and cozy dining atmosphere. The drinks are very tasty and creatively crafted with Asian elements. The appetizers are not only delicious but also present a show, such as the flaming prawns. The main dish I ordered was numbing beef, served with rice, and it was very tender and flavorsome.

RUYI

Last night was another excuse for dinner at a restaurant we hadn’t been to before so we headed for RuYi at 16 Liverpool Street (in the lane on the way to Longrain). RuYi describes itself as relaxed fine dining of modern Chinese cuisine.

We were warmly welcomed and shown to our seats in the simply presented dining room that provides a comfortable atmosphere. The service was thoughtful and always beaming with a smile. You get the impression the team are proud of where they work.

We opted for a range of the sharing plates and were not disappointed. The evening opened with what turned out to be an agreed choice of best dish, Fried Artisan Tofu with caramelised soy, fushion mayo and nori. The flavours were quite different but delicious.

Perfectly steamed vegetarian dumplings followed, filled with bok choy, shitake and vermicelli. Closely following was the vegetarian lettuce cup filled with Shiitake mushrooms, celery, carrots and peas. The mushrooms were flavour-filled.

The highly recommended, by the house, Bao Bao arrived at the table and looked picture perfect. Slightly toasted the bao was so soft and the filling had a zing that got the taste buds singing.

We finished off with a great choice of the Soy Mustard cold noodle salad with shiitake, capsicum, peanuts, soy mustard and chilli. The cool refreshing tastes and textures of this dish just rounded out a delightful meal in the right way.

A Lychee and Pomegranate Fizz Mocktail was also a welcome choice.

RuYi is another welcome addition to dining before a show and I suggest it is well worth a visit. Good value for money, nice people and really tasty food with a range of flavours.

PS – Wicked was our show for the evening, back in Melbourne after about 15 years, and it lived up to very high expectations. Great cast, unbelievably fantastic costumes and settings and wonderful story. Worth another look.

We had dinner at RuYi tonight and our experience was amazing. We ordered a selection of home plate dishes which were all so different and tasty. The tofu and fried chicken wings is definitely a must. Had the tasting dessert platter which was amazing. The waitress who served was was excellent. She explained all the dishes when they arrived at the table and made recommendations. Highly recommended!

Had an early dinner here today and had a really great gastronomic experience. There’s a la carte with very good selection of food at a very reasonable price. Then there’s 5/7 course meal where the kitchen picks and chooses for you. We went for the 5 course and that was very impressive. Great food, good portions, well seasoned and really delish! The staffs especially the staff helping us was very helpful and attentive. Seatings are well spaced and not intrusive. Super close to Princess Theatre so good place for a meal. Def will be coming back.

It’s not a meat-free restaurant, but the vegetarian dishes were absolutely 👍 tasty. Service was great👍. The sauce of cool noodles + rice = a taste of home 😂

Truly beautiful modern Chinese food. It was a joy to visit. We had the chef's selection (7 course), and each item was delicious. Service was spot on.

I decided to take my husband to RuYi for his birthday and I don't even know where to start. IT WAS INCREDIBLE. The service and food was impeccable. We love Chinese food however RuYi takes it to a level we have never experienced. Every dish was well balanced flavour wise. The dishes were perfectly sized, the smells will make you drool. We went over board in regards to what we ordered however it was worth every bite and the process of rolling out of there, We ordered the numbing beef and pork ribs with steamed rice and fried rice as mains which can only be described as wow. Cover your mouth, stop chewing. wow. The small plates were insane as well. Overall I would give it 6 stars out of 5. THANK YOU TO THE TEAM AT RUYI for an amazing dining experience.

This is the best food by far I had in years. The lettuce cup with seafood is Michelin-star worth dish. It’s so amazingly fresh. Wonton and pecking cups were my next favourite.
Ricotta dumplings for a dessert, this one just melts in your mouth.
Definitely coming back when we are in Melbourne again.

Chef welcomed us as our large group were wandering looking for somewhere to have a quick bite to eat before a show! So glad he did the food was sensational! Fresh crisp ingredients cooked to perfection by a chef who clearly loves his gig and instaworthy presentation and the service was so friendly and warm to match..what a great start we had to our night here! Highly recommend for a lovely meal.

Being so regretful that I didn’t book for tomorrow valentine also!!!! The food,wine,vibe,and service are amazing, love the lychee cocktail, refreshing and adorable sweet🥰
