Great park. Tranquil. Lots of trees. Playground was being upgraded while we were there.

What great outdoor fun with the little ones. Do wear gum boots when wet is our tip!

I only accidentally discovered the Haig Park Nature Playground as I was walking along the bike trail that follows Sullivan's Creek through Lyneham to the ANU. As you can see in the photos, there are logs and tree stumps for children (and adults!) to climb and balance on. Some of the stumps are impressively large. A notched log forms steps down to a low bridge. I can imagine that I would have loved this place when I was a child. There is a similar sort of "Nature Playground" in Glebe Park. Both allow kids to take some small risks, balancing on logs, climbing and jumping. There are picnic tables nearby under the pine trees, making this a wonderful place for families with kids to come for an outing. Highly recommended, and all due complements to the city, the designers and builders of this lovely addition to Haig Park.

It is a great playground. My four years old son enjoys a lot. Playground for all age children.

Great place for kids to learn how to balance and do their own risk assessment of what features they want to play with.

The new nature playground in Haig Park is a lovely addition amongst the trees. However lacks any sand or water additions. Great for a little Forrest adventure in the city without the drive.

Perks
• large tree shade by pine trees
• circle of wooden seats under tree shade on side of playground
• small bridge leading to circle of wooden seats

• series of logs and wooden stumps to make obstacle course with different styles and heights
• downhill and uphill logs with feet cuttings going up and down into the gully with wooden beam bridge
• tree branch hut
• plenty of fresh mulch around wooden course

• painted logs in aboriginal art style
• educational pine try signs (2)

Not available
• no bench seats facing playground
• no picnic tables • no bins • no bubblers
• no bike rack • no toilets • no bbq

Would not recommend going during 12pm to 3pm during summer heat as the equipment may still be hot

We had a fun time with the kids here. Amazingly they prefered this park compared to yerrabi pond district park even though there was a palyground there.

Goes to show you can't predict what is going to tickle a child's imagination.

They particularly enjoyed having hanging ropes attached to the tree branches and hopping around on the tree barks.

4 stars for my kids enjoyment. Personally would rate it a 3. Parking was a real challenge, we parked at the bowls club and had to walk across to get to the nature play area.

A good all ages play area.

However, no BBQ/Toilet/Tap/Drinking Fountain.

Access Canberra need to mow around the playground and the paths more often.
