Basils Seafood Restaurant

Service is old style and charming.
The owner serves you your food and another person
sees to other table details. eg. Crumb comb, water, cutlery etc.
They even have "bottle keep" for regulars.

Food is solid classic style,
so be warned there is not any new wave,
fad chasing going on here.
The warm crusty bread before meal was some
of the best I've tasted in a very long time.
And all choices were available...
Served with olive oil, balsamic, plus (no expense spared) butter.

Portions are ample.

The place seems well attended and has been there forever.
So you can guess that it is a decent establishment.

This was one of the best dining experiences my partner and I have had while in Sydney.
The service was second to none and the food was incredible! For the main I had the John Dori and it was like butter, hands down the best tasting fish meal I've eaten. Thank you for such a wonderful experience, we will certainly be back here

Top quality meal and comes with one of the best services that I’ve experienced for a long time. Excellent old school environment, very relaxing after a busy working day. Recommend everyone to try this restaurant. Reasonable price.

This place was awesome.

Walking in it reminded me of a RSL however the food was amazing and they have libe professional singer which really lifts the ambiance.

The food was fantastic and we found the customer service to be amazing, one of the best customer services experiences we’ve had. All of the food was presented so nicely. The wine selection was great. Will definitely recommend to others.

I wasn't too sure about going there after reading some reviews but mum insisted so we book a table of 4.
We arrived and were very greeted very friendly and was shown to out table.
We order a dozen oysters which the host assured us were freshly shucked. Scallops and Garlic prawns.
The Oysters we absolutely devine. Fresh as though they were just pick out of the ocean. Beautiful fragrance and taste of the ocean itself.
The Garlic prawns were delightful served with warm sour dough bread to dip into the sauce. Our mains were also nicely cook tasty and delicious. We topped it off with Cream Brulé and Chocolate fondant.
We struck up a conversation with the owner and mentioned that some of the reviews were not so flattering and were not going to come.
He explained with staff shortages Chefs were hard to come by. The old chef has now been replaced with a new one and I think he's on a winner.
I recommend you give this place a try. We couldn't be happier and we will definitely be back for mums birthday

Fine dining at Marsfield..pleasantly surprised as we were not expecting such a lunch time experience. Reminded us of a European restaurant..where the service is impeccable...discreet. Nice menu...birthday dessert was the highlight...happy birthday written in chocolate..with a sparkler!
Will definitely go again with friends. Found this via the Sydney Entertainment book. Good value re the Gold Card...25%...saved $50. We were served by the manager who has been there a year...charming.

Just had the best restaurant experience that I can remember! What professional service! Staff have to be commended here for going the extra mile. Made a special family dinner into such a beautiful and memorable event! Always great service and food each time we go. Kids loved it!

Have dined at Basils many times in the past but not been back since they relocated. Had a great night with a 10 course degustation and some very nice wines etc (thanks Tim). Carly and Alex were our great servers and they made our night not just a good dining experience but also a fun evening. Great all round evening and we will be back again for sure.

I first dined at Basils some 20 years ago and it was very good back then and I'm happy to say that the quality of the service and the food is still second to none! The professionalism of the waiters is something to behold. Other restaurants should take note. A bit on the pricey side but I feel for the quality it's well worth it.

brilliant seafood resturant. Food was amazing. Atmosphere was great. loved the singer, not intrusive, just right. I had a dessert as well yummy!. Staff were very attentive. You can also just come for a drink at the bar if you want. Do not miss this spot!. Parking underneath or taxi/Uber to the door. They have a covid check in. I wll be going again to try other delights on the mouth watering menu.

Had been there forever(40 odd years). If this is the case you've got to be doing things correctly! Surreptitious service; great food; happy & pleasant staff; excellent non-seafood available too. Taken me 40 years to visit but boy have I been missing out. Great for significant events. Will definitely be back. Parking is a breeze.

After some 20 years we returned last night to Basils ..... it was just as we had remembered it ..... food was exceptional ...service was amazing with the hospitable and caring staff really looked after us. When finishing our meal we asked for a taxi to be called and then some 20 minutes later when it had not arrived a member of staff was organised to drive us back to our hotel. Good old fashion service above and beyond the norm, definitely a restaurant to return to or if you haven't been can't be faulted. Thank you to all the staff at Basils.
