Sassafras Springs

Absolutely picturesque setting and warm comfortable cottage with all the comforts of home. So lovely to be able to explore the property with marked walks and a veggie garden to use. Recommend you allow extra time to enjoy the property itself. Convenient location for Mt Field NP.

Very rustic, great change of pace, quiet relaxing, great views and walks, chickens, a vegie patch to eat from and show the kids, swings and room to move and Grant the manager is very informative and happy to assist with any questions.

We stayed in the Raspberry cottage as a family of 3 in January 2023. We loved the entire property and the cottage was gorgeous. The creek walk on the property was great and our 6 year old loved Treasure Island. We all loved the chooks and the vegetable garden where we picked fresh snow peas and beans to go with our dinner. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Thank you to Grant and his family for making our trip to Tasmania unforgettable. Highly recommend for anyone with kids or without that likes relaxing in the countryside.

We stayed in the Old Farmhouse and it was the perfect size for 4 adults and a toddler. The accommodation had everything we needed in the various rooms. The surrounding grounds were kept in great condition with pretty garden beds, abundant veggie garden, great BBQ area, fun playground and an awesome nature walk around the property. Really couldn't recommend this place any higher!

Beautiful location not far from Mt Field national park. Very friendly hosts - nothing was too much trouble. Excellent facilities. Beautifully maintained veggie patch and fruit trees - help yourself to fresh produce, plus fresh eggs each morning from the laying chickens. Kids had the best time. Good value for money.

Just amazing! Sassafras is exactly what you're looking for in a relaxing rural retreat. Beautiful setting, well appointed homes and an attention to detail that you just don't often see. Grant and the team are incredible! Staying here felt like stepping back into my childhood country home. Fresh air, golden sunrises and the sounds of chooks out back. Honestly this is the ideal place to relax, write that novel, dream up that new business concept or spend some serious time in nature. Keep up the great work team!

Had an amazing stay here in a quiet, clean, comfortable cottage. There are great views / walks from the farm, and we were able to gather some veges and fruit from the garden for our meals. Would certainly stay again.

This is the second time we have stayed in the Hop Pickers Cottage at Sassafras Springs. Last time we were passing through and one night was just not enough.
We have been here for three nights. So relaxing! The kids love the vegie patch and friendly chickens. The creek walk in my opinion is better than at Mt Field, all to ourselves.
The view from the rustic kitchen is amazing, with pademelons crossing in front of the hut in the evening. Grant and Marieke are attentive, friendly hosts. Nothing is too much trouble. We will be back again soon.

A Tasmanian gem!

The major mistake we’ve made is to stay at Sassafras Springs for only two nights - kids wanted to stay there forever to enjoy the great garden, feeding chickens, pademelons, beautiful fields, playground, sports ground, etc...
The cottage was perfectly equipped (more kitchen appliances than we have at home); dishes, kitchen, bathroom, linen and everything else - all were perfectly clean.

Grant and Marieke were infinitely friendly, nice and helpful. Thank you for our great stay - we will be definitely back.

Sassafras Springs was one of my Family's highlights of our holiday in Tasmania! My Children loved the veggie patch and orchard, where we got to pick fresh carrots, potatoes, snow and sugar snap peas, beetroot, spinach, blueberries and raspberries. They especially loved the chook pen, where they sat feeding the beautiful natured chickens, giving them cuddles and pats and also got fresh eggs! If that wasn't enough for your children, Sassafras Springs also had an art room, cubby houses and plenty of grass to run around on. There is also a really scenic walk following the creek, up a hill through rainforest on the property which is definitely a must.
We stayed in the Raspberry Cottage, which was like a home away from home, beautifully decorated and plenty of space. The wood fire was awesome and kept us warm at night. Grant and Marieke were wonderful hosts, even sending an email before we arrived filling us in on where to visit, get supply and how to find Sassafras Springs. Thank you again, we will definitely be back!!

We had a great time here! Beautiful surrounding with lots of outdoor things to do for kids. Everybody (including Mojo the next door pony) was super friendly. Looking forward to coming back here and finding the platypus in the dam!

Such a lovely place in the nature ! We stay in the raspberry cottage, everything was clean and comfy. Great localisation, close to the mount field national park and the owner really nice. We definitely recommend this place !

A great welcome from hosts, and very well provisioned. Beautiful location with grounds and walking track to explore. Far exceeding our expectations.

Amazing place, people and service. Could not fault and from what it’s seems it’s only going to get better in the near future to come, with the new cafe/restaurant. Catering for all personalities whether your on the Harley, in the 4wd or just looking to get a break from the busy city life.

Super awesome stay over here in the hearts of the nature. I love the electric heat blanket that's a super bonus +++ during the winter and it wasn't hard to find. There wasn't any apartment nearby haha.

We loved our stay in the Raspberry Cottage! We felt so catered to, the woodfire was set up ready to be lit, the place was so cosy and comfortable and we had everything we needed. The organic vege patch was an extra bonus, being able to pick a few things to add to dinner. The location is stunning, so secluded and peaceful beside the rainforest. Our kids absolutely loved it! There were so many extra touches that added to their experience and in turn, ours.

Lovely family place to stay for your holiday near nature. Go for the provided tracks. They are awesome
