World Famous Fish N Chips

Since migrating to Australia 7 years ago, I have not found any fish and chips that hits the spot (and trust me I’ve been to many chippies in Victoria, where I live) like British Fish and Chips!… until now.

World Famous Fish N Chips in Hoskisson is by far one of the best fish and chips I’ve had ever!! The lunch pack consisting of Hoki Fish, 3 calamari rings and chips is absolutely incredible and for only $19!! The fish is so fresh and flakey with perfect batter that isn’t too crispy or greasy. The calamari rings are crumbed and cooked to perfection and the chips are incredible. Trust me I’ve tried and tested probably 50+ chippies in Australia and there is nothing like this place!!

I’d give it 100 Stars if I could.

This place is absolutely incredible, such a nice atmosphere and the owners are lovely. Wonderful service, they go out of their way to help customers. The fish and chips were amazing, and great value for money. I will definitely be coming back! :)

Ordered Ocean Perch & chips & Hoki & chips. Would rate the meal as one of the best take away fish & chips meals we have had. Would highly recommend.

Don’t know why all the negative reviews.
Got the Seafood Box for 2.
Food was fresh tasting (not of old oil), batter was crisp and all well salted.
This box could feed a small army & didn’t cost an arm and leg.
Shop was packed on Boxing Day 2023 and waited no longer than 10-15 min.
Some people can never be pleased.

I can certainly see why they say world famous, this place is top notch.

Holidaying in the area, checked this place out on recommendation. We were part of a large group, went during lunch rush. Wait was about 15-20 which was reasonable given it's all fresh and the quantity we ordered. The food is priced well, portions big enough, staff were great, lunch specials various items and chips for about $8, cannot go wrong. I got the Salt and Pepper Squid, it was divine. The troop had Calamari called it "the best ever", Barramundi Burger which was 'pretty darn good'. All came with chips, we all had too much chips in the end. The only complaint from the visit was more chicken salt for the chips needed (maybe that's just us), and the scallops were a bit thin, but still were up there with the best tasting any of us ever had.

Tables and chairs present enough for us, otherwise an easy walk down to the beach.

Can't recommend this place enough. You will not be disappointed.

LIVE UP TO THEIR NAME! Fantastic fresh and tasty menu. Fish was caught that morning filleted and served to us at lunch the staff were friendly and helpful. Brought our food out and had a friendly chat. Amazing place. HIGHLY RECOMENDED ON THE SOUTH COAST

Hoki and calamari rings were great. Definitely returning on my next visit to Jervis bay

Visited again and was still very good

It was so busy Christmas Eve 2023. We waited 45 mins for our order, well worth the wait. GF fish and chips, yummy. A big applause to the young guy taking the orders single handedly, while the others cooked and prepared the fresh sea food orders.

While chips are not their forte, the fish is extremely fresh and tastes beautiful.

Prices are quite normal for the portion you get.

Worth a visit when in the area.

I haven't eaten fish n chips in years..but had just gotten off a cruise in Huski; so it was a fish and chips type of day. So glad we picked these guys!

Nothing was greasy! The batter was so light and crisp. Didn't feel bleh after eating it- We all know the fish and chips regret feels. But not here..

It was busy. Packed. Always a good sign. We had to wait for our food.. but you should have to wait a bit for food done right.

Staff were lovely. The lady that took my order was very pleasant even though she was clearly run off her feet. Even had a charming young man come and take away our rubbish and place it in the bin for us. (We ate at the tables outside)

Hygienic clean and tidy. No concerns about cleanliness.

Our meal came to $30 and included fish cocktails, crab sticks, potato scallops, chips and 3 drinks. I thought it was good value.

Also had plenty of fresh prawns and fish for sale.

My only suggestion would be more salt. But that's probably just me.

I really hate going to coastal towns and finding that their fish and chip shops do frozen produce which is dripping in oil that tastes rank. These guys are an absolute example of how to do it right 🙂

It shouldnt be hard to get good hot chips these days, but it is! These guys have got it covered! Yummy chips and darling fresh seafood. Perfectly battered fish. Packaged tartare sauce tasted home made...winning!

Food was fresh and made to order. They're not heavy on the batter unlike other fish and chip places. Also have the option to buy fresh seafood there.

Really fresh seafood. Got the cod fish and chips- it was fantastic and so fresh. The prawns and oysters were so sweet, juicy and fresh. Calamari rings were cooked really well and yummy to be eaten. If you are in Huskisson, visit the world famous fish and chips shop cause their food its amazing. Love their seafood 🦪🦑🦐

They have really upped their game with their seafood display and freshness of the menu. We come here atleast once a week now. Really impressed with the new range of seafood and pride in their food.

Only improvement needed I think is the wait times could be better, often waiting a while even when not too busy.

On Thursday, 27 September, I had to drive to Jervis Bay Territory for a meeting. It was my first time in JBT. At lunch time I asked a colleague about a good place to buy lunch. I was told to drive to Huskisson and check out the main drag. The place that caught my eye is named "World Famous Fish N Chips". I mean, how could I go past a shop with that name? I walked in and was impressed with the selection of fish species on offer as well as other seafood.

I asked for an order of battered cod with chips with a couple of potato scallops. The person serving me from behind the counter was really bright and bubbly, and she asked if I'd like to try their world famous sweet potato scallops instead. I love sweet potato and I love potato scallops, so I said yes. She also asked about my seasoning preferences, which became very specific. I do like a bit of detail. I was very impressed.

The delay between ordering, paying and eat was pretty short. My number was called and I took hold of a nicely weighted package of fish and chips.

On opening the butcher's paper I could see the cod was very lightly battered, the chips looked really good (not soggy and not chewy), and the sweet potato scallops looked magnificent. The sweet potato scallops, were elongated rather than circular like a standard potato scallop. The batter was thin, but it definitely covered all the sweet potato very nicely. It was crisp and the sweet potato itself was cooked, soft but not at all mushy. I really liked the sweet potato scallop. The cod was nice and flaky. The thin batter was crispy and the seasoning was perfect.

I'd happily recommend Huskisson's World Famous Fish N Chips and I highly recommend the sweet potato scallops.
