Inside the Morton National Park. You have to pay for day fee(8aud), free if you NSW National Park pass.

My partner was the one who forced me to go to this walk. I was like, a mine? What's gonna be interesting with that.

Ended up being surprised by an awesome walk, and awesome waterfalls. Could have gone in but the weather is yucky.

A hidden gem for sure.

Nice and easy walk to this old coal mine. There is also a pretty waterfall next to the mine. We saw a lyre bird on the way there.

A beautiful waterfall attraction right next to the coal mine. It was also a fun hike all the way down into the valley.

Cannot imagine working here in the day. Such hard conditions but a lovely place to visit now.

I've been visiting the Erith coal mine and falls regularly since the late 1970's, and still find this spot just as interesting and magical as I did on my first visit. Not only do you have the old coal mine, but a metal staircase that makes it's way down the side of a waterfall to get to the mine, overlooking a crystal clear pool of water. It's like something out of a Indiana Jones movie.

Thankfully the Southern Higlands Tourism Bureau are too busy pushing Bowral cafes & wineries and don't know this place exists so it doesn't appear in any local tourist brochures. It's nice and peaceful and never gets busy. There are two tracks you can take to get to the mine, the first one starting near the entry to the park consists of steps all the way down and is pretty tough on your legs. The other track a little further into the park follows an old road which looks steep when you first see it but in reality is easier to walk if you take your time.

The Erith coal mine and falls are an absolute gem and well worth a visit.

If you want to get up close and personal to a waterfall, not from a long distance from an outlook, this one is among the best. Also, the path is short and family-friendly.

Amazing old mine that nature is slowly claiming back.

There is a path all the way down and when there has been a bit of rainfall the waterfall looks beautiful. There was nobody there at a wednessday morning (11am) and the water was so clear.

Short walk, though several stairs along the way. Excellent opportunity for some great photographs; especially when the waterfall is flowing.
