Bench Espresso

We chanced upon this place and decided to get a cuppa. Was recommended the mocha and oh my, was it an awesome recommendation! The mocha is rich, aromatic and rich! Wished we had gotten a double shot instead!

Spotted several delicious-looking baked goods too. Do support this cafe!

A hidden gem. Just a short walk from office yet I have not noticed them till today. Best coffee I've had around, and their cinnamon scrolls are even better. Will be back for sure.

Happily stumbled across this gem of a coffee shop one afternoon, very happy I did as this place serves some of the best matcha latte I have had. The lady’s who run it are very kind and attentive.

Very friendly staff and great coffee!

I was in Perth for work and needed coffee urgently. Found this place as it was right outside my hotel. So glad I did too because I really enjoyed the coffee I had here. The coffee was nice and strong, with a pleasant taste. I went back there three more times before I left, and each cup was just as good as the first. Certainly one of the best, if not THE best coffee I have had.

A surprising jem as we walked through the city. Great coffee, friendly staff and cozy non crowded environment. Much better than many others on Hay Street and is open till 5!

Coffee has always been consistently good & service is very friendly & swift. When I’m in this part of the city running some errands, I do like popping in for a decent Long Mac Top up to go.

I have always had an amazing experience at Bench. The coffee is consistently phenomenal.

Ling Shen takes great pride in making sure the coffees that he makes are of the highest quality or he throws it out and starts again.

I notice things that he does that a very very many other cafes don't do like...

...weigh the coffee so that there's a consistent amount of coffee being brewed that prevents over or under brewing which leads to bitterness or sourness respectively...

...time the brewing process with a timer to each station to a tight 3 seconds (FYI most good coffee places use about 7s and many other places don't time their brews at all) so that the coffee remains in that perfect sweet spot...

...he gets in at least 45 mins every day to taste the coffee every morning and make small tweaks to make sure that the coffee blend is fully optimized up to his expectations...

He uses ACTUAL Belgium Chocolate to make his Mochas and Hot Chocolates. Now I've not known any other place that uses REAL Belgium Chocolate. I was so surprised when I first tasted my first Mocha here expecting it to be the regular unexciting Mocha experience to find that rich REAL high quality chocolatey taste inside.

This place is DEFINITELY one of Perth's Best.

I was very surprised to read some of the other reviews. As far as I've been coming here, I've never noticed any of the things that they have mentioned... maybe they were run differently back then?

Fantastic coffee and a nice assortment of cakes, muffins, wraps and rolls. Everything is always delicious and the staff are wonderfully friendly. Can't go wrong going here :)

No joke.... These guys should sell themselves with a Barista vibe rather than cafe because I cannot think of anywhere in Perth that makes a better coffee.... rich full flavoured and barista perfection

Breakfast here in a Sunday, recommended.

Great coffee and friendly service! The perfect stop for coffee if you're at Royal Perth Hospital as it's just a block or so away from the ED. 🙂

I was in a hurry and stepped in to the closest coffee shop for a takeaway. The coffee was excellent, I'll definitely be back for more! Good service too.

Not sure what is best, the coffee, the food or the fantastic service. Lets just say all three. Highly recommend this coffee shop.
